Protecting you from harmful web content

Over the coming months, IT is replacing our existing web filter with a solution from Microsoft. Web filters prevent access to harmful and malicious web content and websites - protecting your device and our network - while still allowing access to sites and information we need.

When you have the new web filter, you'll see a different error message when something is blocked, shown below for Microsoft Edge.

Error message

If you find any websites are blocked by the new filter that you would usually access, please email the following address with details of the website(s) you require access to: webfiltering@portsmouthcc.gov.uk

Lisa Ames: give blood to save lives and support the NHS

Lisa Ames works as a customer services officer in our City Helpdesk team, helping our customers with everything from school admissions to highways issues.

Outside of the council, she also works as a donor carer for NHS Blood and Transplant and a healthcare support worker at QA Hospital. Read about her story below, why giving blood is so important and how you can help.

I am proud to be part of NHS Blood and Transplant and an ambassador for the service which provides essential blood supplies to significantly improve and/or save people's lives. Working for the Portsmouth Mobile Team, my role is to welcome and care for donors whilst they are giving blood.

Giving blood isn't something that everyone is able to do but helping to raise awareness is something we can all be a part of. We are currently in urgent need of blood and are urgently appealing for people to make an appointment to donate blood because stock levels are low and falling in certain blood groups.

Donors with B negative, O positive and O negative blood types are particularly needed. If you are already a donor, please continue to support the service by keeping your next appointment. If you're interested in finding out about giving blood or booking an appointment, please visit www.blood.co.uk, call 0300 123 23 23 or download the NHS Give Blood app.

Each blood donation can save or improve up to three lives. Blood is used to treat patients with cancer, blood disorders and those suffering medical trauma or undergoing surgery.

I am lucky to see first-hand blood donations being used in my other job working at QA Hospital. Seeing the whole process from start to finish is a privilege and we can all do our bit to help our services continue to do the amazing job they do, even if that's simply by speaking with friends, family or colleagues about giving blood. Thank you for your support and please help spread the word!

Keeping you safe at work

stay safe

It is important we do all we can to continue to protect and care for each other at work. Help reduce the risk of catching and passing on COVID, colds and flu by:

  • wearing a face covering in crowded or enclosed spaces
  • being considerate of others and maintaining space and distance
  • cleaning workstations, desks and meeting rooms before and after each use
  • frequently washing your hands and using hand sanitiser

Managing your council records

rcords

We create many documents in our working lives - and some of these are classed as 'records'. A record is a document created, received and maintained as evidence and information by the council for legal or business purposes. Any documents that aren’t records should be destroyed when no longer needed.

Records come in many formats - including emails, physical documents and audio/videos - and can be kept electronically or in paper form. They should be stored carefully and only for as long as detailed in the retention schedule.

If you are unsure if your document is a record or want to find out more about council records, you can now visit our Council records and corporate retention schedule intranet page which has all the information you need.
