 We're back a bit earlier than planned, as we wanted to remind you about our roadshow this Thursday (20 August) from 10am - 1pm, and a change of location!
We were going to hold it on the seafront, however, after the very dry conditions it is now due to rain (you couldn't make it up), so we're going to relocate to Southsea Library on Palmerston Road. Many thanks to them for hosting at short notice. We hope to see you there!

The first sections of the new seafront promenade are taking shape, with concrete being poured in a checkerboard pattern. This approach allows construction teams to work efficiently while ensuring each section has time to cure properly before neighbouring areas are completed.

Near South Parade Pier, work has started to bring the beach up to its new design levels, which will eventually sit close to the height of the promenade. The last 30-40cm will be placed when the revetments underneath are locked in by the prom slabs.
This wider, higher beach is a key part of the scheme and will absorb wave energy during everyday conditions. The stepped revetments and sea defences behind it provide added protection during the most severe storm events.

Before new lighting can be installed along the seafront, teams are carrying out inspections of the ducts beneath the promenade. These underground routes will carry power and communications cables for the upgraded lighting, helping create a safer, more welcoming seafront while making future maintenance easier.

New kerbs are being installed to create planting terraces along the promenade. These areas will be filled with a mix of marine-hardy plants and wildflowers, similar to those already established elsewhere on the scheme. The planting will add colour and biodiversity while thriving in the challenging seafront environment. The gap between the kerbs is to be filled with a timber bench.

Families can save money on Victorious Festival tickets this summer thanks to the Government's Summer Savings initiative, which has temporarily reduced VAT on days out. Discounted Family Saving tickets are now available, with savings applied automatically when at least one child ticket (aged 12 and under) is purchased alongside a standard ticket. The offer applies to festival entry tickets only.
