Between South Parade Pier to Speakers’ Corner (Frontage 5 East) we have started to pour the concrete bench bases at the eastern end of site. So far, we have poured four bench bases, these will eventually be clad in timber and will be similar in style to the other completed frontages.
Also this week, we have installed more of the stepped revetments (also known as aprons) which lead from the new promenade level to the beach, we have now installed a total of 14 of these.

Last week we explained that we are building the pile caps (concrete beams which sit on top of the steel sheet piles and help to make sure loads and pressures are evenly distributed thereby ensuring the stability of the piles and the ground behind them) next to South Parade Pier. This week we have started to pour the concrete into these.
Concrete can only be poured in certain temperatures in order to dry to a good quality and this must be below 30 degrees, so this is something we keep a good eye on during a heatwave.

SAVE THE DATE! Next week we’re on the road again and we’re hoping to see lots of you there.
We’ve got our fingers crossed for the sunshine and we’ll be on the promenade near Speakers’ Corner with our gazebo on Thursday 2 July between 10am – 1pm to say hello and answer any questions you may have.

|
Last week we took our wave tank to Porchester Community School and spoke to around 150 year 9 students about the scheme and why there is a need for it.
We also demonstrated some of the sea defences we are using and why in our wave tank and did an activity to see which sea defences the students would use with their new knowledge!

Great news, the coastal path at Milton Common is open again!
The North Portsea Coastal Scheme have resurfaced over 1km of the path as they near, completion following nearly 12 years of work to protect our coastline.
Thanks for your patience while we completed this work, we hope you enjoy the improved path, and hope your furry friends enjoy it too. Follow their Facebook page for more info.
