KidsClothesLine – clothing support for families |
|
 |
KidsClothesLine provides quality clothing for children aged 2–16 years in the Portsmouth area. The organisation collects good, clean garments and footwear from local people and commercial retailers and creates unique clothing kits based on children’s age and gender.
Kits are distributed exclusively via local community organisations and schools already working with families. This ensures support reaches those who would benefit most while protecting anonymity.
Each kit is neatly packaged in a smart bag labelled only with the child's age and a gender. It is described as a “hand-up not a hand-out”.
If you have families who would benefit, contact Sally at kidsclothesline@hotmail.com

Share with families - Launch of NEW Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF)
The Crisis and Resilience Fund Crisis Payment (CRFCP) scheme provides eligible low-income households in crisis who have experienced an unexpected financial shock with a discretionary payment. Support is most likely to be provided as a cash payment; however, awards may also be in the form of vouchers or essential items depending on the household’s needs.
The CRFCP scheme provides two routes to support:
- A fast track route via referral agencies for urgent short-term needs resulting in a faster award payment
- A full review route which both members of the public and agencies can apply under for longer-term needs and links into wider resilience services.
Full details of the scheme can be found in the Crisis Payment scheme policy. Eligibility for this fund is different from schemes under the Household Support Fund therefore professionals are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the scheme policy prior to promoting the scheme.
Families can submit an application using the following link - Crisis Payment Scheme - apply for support.
If you have any questions about the scheme, please contact the team on crfcrisispayment@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.

Help make school gates smokefree in Portsmouth |
|
 |
Portsmouth City Council is keen to work with schools in the city to encourage smokefree school gates.
Arundel Court Primary Academy recently introduced smokefree school gates, kindly asking parents, carers and visitors not to smoke or vape outside the main gates.
Pupils played a key role by designing their own banners, helping to spread a positive message about encouraging a cleaner, safer environment especially during busy drop‑off and pick‑up times.
The banners also signpost to the free stop smoking support available from Portsmouth Wellbeing Service.
Support is available to help your school get started. Please contact smokefreeportsmouth@portsmouthcc.gov.uk for more information.

Take part in the Portsmouth Local Offer SEND Workforce Training Survey
The SEND Workforce Development Group would really value your feedback on the Portsmouth Local Offer SEND Workforce Training page to help ensure it is useful, accessible and meets the training needs of those working with children and young people.
The survey should take no more than 5–10 minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous. We are keen to hear from both those who are familiar with, and have used, the page, as well as those who may not yet have engaged with it, so we can better understand awareness and potential areas for development.
While we would very much welcome any additional comments you may wish to share within the survey, providing this detail is entirely optional.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your views.
