Help to shape the future of CAMHS Front Door |
|
 |
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS want to gather experiences and feedback around the CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services) Front Door process to improve, align and shape its future.
They are asking parents, carers and young people who are currently, have recently accessed, or are waiting to access CAMHS to complete a short 5-10 minute survey by Sunday 15 March 2026.
A poster to share with your school communities is available to download here.
Inclusion reviews |
|
 |
The newly developed inclusion review, by the Portsmouth Inclusion Hub, supports schools to respond to national SEND reforms, which emphasise early identification, strong mainstream inclusion and consistent, evidence‑informed support. In this context, Ofsted’s updated inspection focus, particularly within the inclusion evaluation area, reinforces the importance of identifying pupils’ needs quickly and accurately, using assessment to inform support, and working closely with pupils, parents and external professionals to reduce barriers to learning and wellbeing.
The inclusion review provides a structured opportunity for schools to reflect on, strengthen and evidence inclusive practice across the whole school, with follow‑up support from the Inclusion Hub available to help embed agreed actions.
The review is provided free of charge to schools and is aligned with the gathering evidence sections of the updated Ofsted inspection toolkit (November 2025).

Portsmouth SEND Local Offer is inviting schools, academies and colleges to book their place at Moving Forward. The event supports young people and adults aged 14–25 with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), helping them explore their next steps as they move towards greater independence. It is designed to be inclusive and accessible for young people with varying levels of need.
This year, Moving Forward will take place at the City of Portsmouth College (Tangier Road Campus) on Friday 20 March 2026 from 9.30am to 3pm. Groups are encouraged to book in advance to help manage capacity.
More than 40 services are expected to attend, providing information on education, employment, health and community support for young people with SEND in Portsmouth. A number of services will also offer fun, interactive stalls designed to engage younger attendees.
If you would like to bring a group of pupils, please email portsmouthlocaloffer@portsmouthcc.gov.uk for details about how to book a time slot.

Celebrating Languages in Portsmouth Week (16–20 March 2026) |
|
 |
Next week sees our second 'Celebrating Languages in Portsmouth' week (16–20 March) as part of the City of Languages initiative.
We very much hope that lots of you will be taking part in activities, big or small, practising and showcasing the amazing linguistic and cultural skills that contribute to the wonderful tapestry that is the city of Portsmouth. Don't forget to take lots of pictures or videos that we can upload to the Portsmouth, City of Languages website as a lasting record. Please share anything with Liz Lord at lizlord0502@gmail.com.
Suggestions for activities and information about planned events can be found on the Portsmouth Education Partnership website. There are so many ideas, from singing our City of Languages song, entering a writing competition in a language other than English (both being launched in the week), or learning a few words in another language with the Ethnic Minority Achievement Service (EMAS) taster sessions or with our British Sign Language (BSL) colleagues!
And to give our festivities a kick-start, you can also watch a lovely video from bilingual Tomasz Schafernaker, who went to school and college in Portsmouth.

DfE digital services survey for schools |
|
 |
The Department for Education's school account team is developing an online service that brings trusted DfE tools, guidance, and services together in one place. This aims to help schools and trusts save time and reduce administrative burden.
To help them do this, they want to understand how schools find and use DfE information, to enable them to design a service that meets your needs.
They are inviting the following school staff to complete a short survey:
- school business managers,
- school business professionals, and
- school and trust leaders
They are keen to hear from anyone whose role involves funding, finance, compliance, HR, procurement, estates, or statutory returns.
Information about the HPV vaccines for year 8s |
|
 |
Conversations may arise within school settings about the HPV immunisation programme and we understand how important it is to make the most of these opportunities to support children to thrive. We have therefore provided some useful information from the NHS to aid these discussions:
- HPV is very common and usually harmless, but it can cause several cancers.
- Boys and girls can receive the HPV vaccine in school year 8, which protects against cervical cancer, some head and neck cancers, and the main types of HPV causing genital warts.
- Those who missed it (girls under 25 and boys born after 1 September 2006) can catch up at their GP. Cervical screening still matters and saves around 5,000 UK lives yearly.
- Search 'school age immunisations Hampshire' for more information about our local programme.
Stakeholders can use NHS England's cervical cancer elimination communications toolkit and the social media assets to promote HPV vaccination.
Take part in Beep Beep! Day – Wednesday 18 March 2026 |
|
 |
We’re encouraging schools, nurseries and childminders to join Beep Beep! Day on Wednesday 18 March 2026. This fun, activity-based road safety day helps very young children aged 2–7 to learn simple but important messages about staying safe near roads.
Beep Beep! Day is a simple and engaging way to introduce road safety through play, stories and hands on activities, helping children build safe habits early by giving them the knowledge they need from the start.
The day is also a great opportunity for parents and carers to learn more about keeping children safe, join in with activities or help raise local road safety concerns.
