Could you plant a new hedge on your grounds? If so, CPRE Hampshire can help plant, restore and rejuvenate Hampshire’s hedgerows, with their Community Hedge Fund. They'll help by supplying whips, guards and canes to successful applicants.

To apply for the Community Hedge Fund, your hedgerow planting must be completed:

  • With 1-2 year hedge whips (using additional mature saplings must be provided by other means)
  • Between November and March, but November and December is best
  • Using native species such as, hawthorn, blackthorn, privet, spindle, crab apple, dogwood, guelder rose, field maple, wayfaring, hazel, dog rose
  • Forming a mixed hedge at least 7 species to maximise the benefits to wildlife

Applications are accepted until end of December 2025. Projects must be carried out during the hedge planting season, between 1 November and 31 March, and all projects must be complete by March 2026.

The Portsmouth Educational Psychology Team will be hosting an ELSA training course commencing next February 2026 and would like to extend an invitation to you to join them. The course is primarily for those who support children and young people in all aspects of emotional literacy.

Topics covered will be: building relationships, social and friendship skills, self-esteem, emotional regulation, anxiety, neurodiversity, loss and bereavement and emotional wellbeing. Trainee ELSAs will also learn specific techniques such as active listening, writing social stories and working therapeutically in a creative way.

The training will be held at the Training and Learning Centre, The Portsmouth Academy, St Marys Road, Portsmouth over the following six days: 24 February 2025, 3 March 2026, 24 March 2026, 21 April 2026, 12 May 2026, and 9 June 2026.  

The cost will be £625 per delegate. Please note there is also an ongoing commitment to attend supervision sessions following training to maintain the ELSA status. Please see leaflet at the button below for details about the ELSA role, the upcoming training and ongoing supervision.
