Children's Occupational Therapy referrals |
|
 |
Children’s Occupational Therapists are trained to look at a child/young person in their environment and the everyday tasks they need and want to do.
Requests for an assessment are accepted from families or professionals where children have a permanent or substantial disability, or significant difficulties impacting their participation in activities of daily living (everyday tasks).
An assessment of a child's needs relating to housing will be offered where there are significant housing needs where the child does not have safe and appropriate access to a bedroom, bathroom, toilet, main family living area or in/out of the property.
To be considered for assessment, please complete the Children's Occupational Therapy referral form.
Contact Buckland Family Hub if you have any questions regarding the referral form: BucklandFamilyHub@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or 02392 882 588 option 3.

Primary subject leader networks (2025-26) |
|
 |
Following the success and positive feedback this year, the PEP primary subject leader networks will run again next academic year on the following dates:
- Wednesday 1 October 2025
- Wednesday 4 February 2026
-
Wednesday 3 June 2026
All are Wednesdays and the sessions will aim to run between 4pm - 5pm to allow staff sufficient time to leave school and attend. The spring term meeting in February 2026 will be virtual, with the other two face-to-face.
We are indebted to those who have led the network meetings in the past, including colleagues from across Portsmouth schools in addition to experts in their fields such as the Solent Maths Hub, HIAS, Association for Language Learning, Portsmouth Music Hub.
Naturally, this is not a perfect system, and it is difficult to accommodate everyone's wants and needs, as well as co-ordinate across the city, but the support and professional development that it has provided for subject leaders across the curriculum should be recognised and celebrated.
For any queries or issues, please contact Debbie.Anderson@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.

Fairtrade Fortnight 2025 – Do it Fair |
|
 |
This year we are celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight from 22 September to 5 October 2025 and as Fairtrade schools have been a huge part of the success of Fairtrade, we really hope that you might want to get involved.
Together, our actions can have a positive impact on real people’s lives. Fairer pay, fairer treatment, fairer futures – that’s Fairtrade. So, whatever you do, and however you do it, we’re asking: Do it Fair.
For over 30 years Fairtrade has been supporting over 2 million Fairtrade farmers and workers across 58 countries to ensure they can earn a fairer wage and extra money to spend in their community. It’s also about tackling the effects of a changing climate, giving more power to women and protecting the environment.
You can find out more, including Fairtrade events around the city for Fairtrade Fortnight, and our contact details on the Portsmouth Fairtrade Forum website or our Facebook group Fairtrade SE Hants.
There are lots of ideas on the Fairtrade Schools website and you can find out how you can become a Fairtrade school. You can also find more from different organisations on the Reboot the Future website.
So do take the opportunity to introduce children to ideas of fairness in our shared world and show how buying products with the Fairtrade Mark can make a real difference to some of the poorest people in the world.
