Independent Chair - Portsmouth Education Partnership
Frances Soul, the Chair of the Portsmouth Education Partnership (PEP) will be stepping down from the role at the end of this academic year. As such the PEP is seeking to appoint a part time Independent Chair, over a two-year period initially, in order to provide supportive leadership for continued education improvement in Portsmouth and build on the legacy of the Priority Education Investment Area (PEIA) programme.

1. CPD opportunity: Becoming a trauma-informed restorative educator
Wednesday 7 May 2025 | 12pm - 1pm | Online
Margaret Thorsborne and Joe Brummer will discuss how individual educators can bring trauma informed restorative practice into their day-to-day work. Margaret and Joe will share theory and research from their book Becoming a Trauma-informed Restorative Educator: Practical Skills to Change Culture and Behaviour, including insights from neuroscience and theories about shame.

2. Bespoke training for schools
Need a bespoke introduction or a refresher in Relational and Restorative Practice for groups of staff or your whole school? Bec Mason (R&RP in schools lead) has availability in 2025/6 and this is free for you at the point of delivery. 50% of Portsmouth schools have taken up this offer.

3. Relational School experience day

Portsmouth SEND Local Offer Live returns to Cosham Community Centre |

Families who have children and young people up to the age of 25 years old with special educational needs and/or disabilities are invited to attend Local Offer Live at Cosham Community Centre on Wednesday 30 April 2025 from 10.30am - 2.30pm.
Local Offer Live brings together community groups, organisations and services who can support families with information, advice and resources. Those who live in the PO1 - PO6 area are set to benefit from up to 20 exhibitors who will be on hand to help.

 Teach Portsmouth is excited to bring another recruitment fair to Portsmouth Central Library on Thursday 1 May 2025 from 10am - 2pm that focuses on support and teaching assistant jobs.

1. Partners meeting - 13 June 2025
Portsmouth City of Languages is a joint initiative launched by the city’s language providers, the local authority and other interested groups to showcase good practice in language provision at all levels, signpost to resources and develop networks, as well as celebrating languages in the city.
If you would like to be involved or learn more, why not attend the next partners meeting which will be held online on Friday 13 June 2025 at 1pm. Minutes of the 21 March meeting can be found here.
2. Week of Celebrating Languages in Portsmouth
During the week of 17 to 21 March, and aligning with the University of Portsmouth's Global Week, schools and education settings took part in a 'Week of Celebrating Languages in Portsmouth', during which they organised different activities to recognise and celebrate the rich languages experiences of learners.
To create a legacy for these celebrations - a repository of memories - schools are invited to send their 'souvenirs' (pictures or words) to Liz Lord (of the PCoL Steering Group) at lizlord0502@gmail.com or upload them directly to the shared Google Drive.

Ofsted report for St Swithun's Catholic Primary School |

A new Ofsted report is now available for St Swithun's Catholic Primary School, following a school inspection on 25-26 February 2025. Inspectors highlighted:
"Pupils thrive in this happy and welcoming school. They behave exceptionally well and show consistently high levels of respect towards each other and staff. The St Swithun’s mission, ‘love one another as I have loved you’, can be seen being lived out through the actions of the whole school community."
