ELSA Network Quality Mark |
|
 |
The Educational Psychology team have once again been awarded the ELSA Network Quality Mark for 2025. This is an annual award and recognises the high standard the team provides in the delivery and evaluation of their ELSA training and supervision.
ELSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants) continue to play an important role within schools in helping children and young people develop the skills to manage anxiety, self-esteem, emotional regulation, social skills and other areas of social and emotional need. Well done to all those members of the team who are involved with ELSA!

Alternative & Additional Provision Directory update |
|
 |
Portsmouth City Council is continuing to process a number of quality assurance applications from tier 3 alternative/additional education providers. This week, four new providers have been added to the Directory after completing our 2-stage assurance process and being awarded PCC assured status. Please visit the directory to find out more about their offers. (Email APCommissioning@portsmouthcc.gov.uk to request access). We have now issued PCC assurance status to nine organisations.
As a reminder, if schools and/or local authority commissioning teams are looking to commission any of the providers listed on the directory, they must complete their own due diligence to assure themselves that the provider will keep their young person/people safe and provide good quality education.
If you have any questions about the work we are doing to quality assure tier 3 providers, you are welcome to contact Helena Kelsey (Alternative Provision Commissioning Manager) via email: Helena.Kelsey@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.

Green Football’s Great Save is back |
|
 |
The UK’s biggest football campaign tackling climate change returns from 11 March to 2 April 2025 – and schools are invited to take part. This year, the focus is on sports kit. Over 100,000 tonnes of sportswear end up in landfill each year, but together, we can change that. By getting involved, your school can help make Green Football’s Great Save while also having fun, learning new skills, and supporting a greener future.
Three easy ways to get involved:
-
In the classroom: Incorporate sustainability into your lessons with free worksheets for KS1, KS2, and KS3. Log your activities on the website to enter a prize draw and score green goals for your school’s favourite football team!
-
Sew It to Save It: Host a sewing workshop in your class or after-school club! Be inspired by a video featuring Leeds forward Patrick Bamford testing out his own sewing skills and teach students a lifelong skill while giving old sports kit a new life.
-
Ginormous jumble sale: Declutter your lost property and unused sports kit. Organise a school-wide jumble sale or swap shop to raise funds for your school. Donate non-uniform leftovers through The Salvation Army’s ‘Recycle With Michael’ scheme.
