Understanding smoking and vaping among 11-15 year olds: school survey and engagement opportunities |
The Public Health team at Portsmouth City Council is conducting a needs assessment to better understand smoking and vaping (e-cigarette use) amongst children aged 11 to 15.
As part of this, schools are invited to complete a short survey.
It should take 5-10 minutes to complete and closes on Friday 14 March 2025.
Engagement events with pupils are also planned. Schools interested in participating can find more information at the end of the survey. The insights gathered will help to inform support for young people who are affected by smoking, vaping or both and our responses to it.
If you have any questions about the work, please contact smokefreeportsmouth@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.

PEP Teaching and Learning Conference 2025 - Early Education |
The third annual PEP Teaching and Learning Conference focusing on early education from EYFS to the end of key stage 1 was held last week with well over 100 delegates in attendance, from headteachers, SENCOs, EYFS leaders, early years settings managers and practitioners, childminders and representatives from Library Services, Health and Family Hubs.
The first keynote speaker Greg Bottrill was utterly inspirational, taking attendees on an 'adventure' and making everybody think about how we reframe language to engage and value childhood. Workshops were varied and catered for all interests, and the day culminated with the second nationally recognised keynote speaker, Dr Aaron Bradbury, who focused on 'Love and Nurture', not to mention the exciting raffle.
Aims of the conference to come away with new learning, be inspired and network with like-minded professionals, were certainly met. A standout comment from one participant was: "Made me fall in love with my job again!"
