Despite the sky being a little grey this week, the guys on site are cracking on well.
We'll start with the plant room - last time we told you the floor had been concreted, and as you can see from this photo the steel work has now been put in place for more concrete. Once the steel work is complete, there will be a concrete pour on the floor, then the wall at the bottom of the photo, then the top, and finally the left and right.
Once the concrete is set and hardened, the team will measure the strength of the structure, and remove the red steel bars from the top.
Next to the Hilsea Lido building we have the hard standings for the beach huts. One is complete and one was just being finished off. The beach huts will act as changing rooms and will be brightly coloured to tie in the shower blocks we showed you last time.
The ground around these concrete bases has been prepped and is now ready for tarmacking.
Ok, so we realise this photo doesn't look like much, but hopefully you can see the different surfaces on the ground. Nearest the pool, the team have been prepping the ground for tarmac, just like on the other side where the beach huts will be. There's then a different surface laid on top of the red plastic where the ground is slightly raised. This is the access road the team have put in place so heavy machinery can drive along it and not churn up the site. When the big machinery is no longer needed, this access road will be removed and the final ground surface will be laid.
We noticed on Facebook, a local drone photographer, MJ Photography, had taken some photos of the lido. These photos are fantastic and they really capture the scale of the project and all the work that's being done around the site, and you can make out the access road.
Did you know the play park at Hilsea Lido is being refurbished?
The work should be complete next week - weather dependent!
As well as generally tidying up the site, the large play unit has been replaced, including a cool slide and it'll be suitable for ages 4-14.
There'll be a new sand play area installed, and a digger that the kids can sit and play on (obviously not a real one!)
The temporary overpass provided to minimise disruption during the work is currently pending final approval to ensure it is safe to use.
Unfortunately the footbridge will remain closed until further notice.
Please follow the official diversion routes indicated by signage near the bridge and on the information boards.
We understand that this causes disruption for many residents and are working hard to reopen as soon as possible. We will provide an update on the new reopening date to provide a shorter route once it has been confirmed.
Did you know that Portsmouth Forest School run out of Foxes Forest?
They have some special treats coming up...
There's a half term session on Wednesday 19 February, for kids aged 6-11 years.
AND there's a five week programme for tots starting Wednesday 16 February.
