Last call for teaching assistants to support development of charter |
|
 |
We would like to thank everyone who has contacted Teach Portsmouth to be part of creating a teaching assistant retention charter. While the initial interest has been positive, we would still like representation from teaching assistants.
As a reminder, Teach Portsmouth is creating a charter that sets out a series of values that schools can choose to adopt, using insight from a teaching assistant retention survey. The survey was completed by 179 teaching assistants.
The session will be held on Thursday 5 December 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at the Civic Offices. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
As a thank you, we are offering a £15 Amazon Voucher to teaching assistants who take part in the session.
Please share this opportunity with your colleagues who are teaching assistants. To reserve their place, please email teachportsmouth@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
More information on the teaching assistant charter can be found on the Portsmouth Education Partnership website.

Dance for Diabetes 2025 |
|
 |
Hampshire-based Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation (DRWF) have developed a resource enabling pupils to be physically active without stepping outside of the classroom. This carefully designed resource raises awareness of diabetes, offers a platform to have fun through movement and raises unbudgeted funds for your school.
The annual Dance for Diabetes event has been extremely successful, raising over £50,000 in just 3 years for participating schools and DRWF. Many Hampshire-based schools have participated during this time; sharing over £20,000 between them as a direct result of the pledge to donate 40p of every £1 raised back to the schools!
Schools receive a host of readymade classroom resources supported by a step-by-step and simple to follow dance video, choreographed to a well-known pop song by Hampshire based afterschool provider, FunKidz Dance.
If you have any questions, please contact Tim Green at fundraising@drwf.org.uk.

An introduction to sensory integration and processing
The Inclusion Outreach Service would like to share the following training opportunity for the autumn term.

Sensory integration and processing is a huge and evolving topic. This training is an introduction to what it is and how it effects everyone, especially some of our pupils. It gives professionals an awareness of their own sensory needs and how to put on their 'sensory goggles' when working with their own pupils. It also gives some tips and tricks on how to help support them to be regulated and ready to learn within the classroom.
