The 60+ festival.

The 60+ Festival returns to Portsmouth for 2024, with a variety of events suitable for all abilities and interests. Anyone 60 years and older can take advantage of a variety of activities, ranging from cooking, dance, scrabble and so much more.

Running from Monday 30 September to Sunday 13 October, the event offers activities and sessions for history enthusiasts, talks on D-Day, ancestry 'Find my Past Workshop' and the Arthur Conan Doyle Collection - Lancelyn Green Bequest. 

With lots of activities to choose from, the festival provides something for everyone with an exciting opportunity for anyone wanting to try something a bit different, learn new skills or meet new people.

Activities include a tour of Portsmouth Cathedral Bell, wellbeing walks, introduction to Facebook, Bridge at Southsea Bridge Club, Portsmouth Pensioners’ Association - Pier to Pier walk, watercolour painting, Victory Indoor Bowls, University of Portsmouth School of Sport and more.

With most of the activities and events being free, what's left to consider? Come along to learn something new or juts to have some fun!

Murder at the Cathedral themed evening.

This Friday, 27 September, the Portsmouth Cathedral has planned a special 1891 themed evening orchestrated by Aldermen of Portsmouth. Spend the evening as a detective, once the guests arrive and speeches are about to commence, tragedy will strike as the guest of honour will be found dead. Working in teams, you have only one hour to interrogate the suspects and unravel the mystery.

Eastney Beam Engine House.

This Friday, 27 September, Eastney Beam Engine House open their doors for a free open day running from 12pm-4.30pm. Explore the impressive Victorian building containing a pair of classic Boulton Watt beam engines and pumps restored to their original 1887 condition, as well as the Gas Engine House. Come along and learn more about a part of Portsmouth's history.

Portsmouth scouts event.

The 62nd Portsmouth scouts are growing, and you are invited to join in the fun! Join the scouts group for a free afternoon of exciting activities and challenges at this special open event, taking place on Saturday 28 September 12pm-2pm. If your child is aged between 4 and 14 or you're an adult interested in volunteering, everyone is welcome to come along to see what scouting is all about.
