Research into teaching assistant retention - Exit interview feedback required |
|
|
Teach Portsmouth is undertaking research into teaching assistant retention and how we can support schools to retain staff. It is hoped that the data received from schools will be used to create an initiative to support retention.
To understand why teaching assistants leave the profession, we are asking academies and LA maintained schools to provide anonymised exit interview feedback. You may not have a formal process in place for recording this information. However, the team would welcome anecdotal data from your own experiences of why people have left. This information will still inform our response and will feature in the final report.
We appreciate there are sensitivities in sharing this information. The team would like to reassure senior staff that any information sent should be anonymised. Exit interview feedback will be grouped, with no organisations named.
If you have a HR lead within your school/academy, we would recommend sharing this information with them. Please send three to four paragraphs or bullet points with your feedback by email to teachportsmouth@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.

Portsmouth, City of Languages logo competition |
|
|
We are a city, shaped by history and our relationship with the sea, including welcoming new members to our communities, who bring new languages and new cultures. We would like to promote and celebrate this amazing superpower of learning and speaking languages and do this under the banner of Portsmouth ~ City of Languages.
We already have a webpage on the Portsmouth Education Partnership (PEP) website, but we now need a logo, to use when we do something Portsmouth language-wise. Something that tells the world how proud we are of the languages and cultures in our city.
Can you create a drawing or a picture that we can use as our logo? There will be certificates for the finalists, and prizes for the winning design.
The deadline for entries is midday on Friday 21 June 2024.

HAF Fun Pompey - Referrals |
|
|
The professional service referral form and an information sheet for the 2024 HAF Fun Pompey programme are now available.
These should be completed for vulnerable families who are not eligible for benefits related free school meals (FSM). Families who are eligible for FSM will be able to book via the booking system (via Eequ) when the summer programme launches on Monday 10 June 2024.
New referrals can now be made up until Monday 10 June 2024 for the summer 2024 programme. If a child was approved access to non-FSM places for the HAF programme in 2023 or Easter 2024 there is no need to apply again - these families will be able to book directly via Eequ.
The priorities for access to non-FSM spaces are:
- Financially vulnerable families
- Children with a Child Protection Plan
- Children experiencing trauma at home
If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact the team at haf@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
