Help Teach Portsmouth undertake research into teaching assistant retention |
|
|
Teach Portsmouth is undertaking research into teaching assistant retention to understand why staff leave the profession.
While pay and workload are sometimes cited as reasons, Teach Portsmouth want to understand how we can respond in a way that encourages people to stay in the profession.
To support this initiative, three activities will take place, to engage with senior school leaders and teaching assistants. It is hoped that the feedback received from this discovery phase will be used to shape a campaign/initiative or event that supports staff retention.
The three activities include:
- Ask academies and LA maintained schools to provide generalised exit interview feedback
- Hold two virtual focus groups with teaching assistants and head teachers/senior staff
- Circulate an anonymous survey for teaching assistants to complete
We will be contacting head teachers in due course about each activity separately and how you can encourage your staff to participate.
Staff members who choose to participate in the focus group and survey will have a chance to win one of three £25 Amazon vouchers as a thank you. This is optional.
