GEC wave 2 - Exclusive PEP PEIA price |
|
|
Deadline: Friday 2 February 2024
The inclusivity platform, the GEC, has now opened up for a second wave to ensure we get all of you signed up to this fully funded membership offer. This platform will allow you to take a close look at the current culture of inclusivity in your school, analyse the needs of your community and provide you with an array of tools to enable you to make it a truly inclusive space for learners and staff. In addition to this, the GEC held two training days for our wave 1 cohort which included our SCITT and over a third of PEP schools!
“Nic’s session was not only engaging and inspiring, it has also given us so much food for thought about how to further embed DE&I into our programme. We commented during the session that ALL ITT providers should prioritise involvement of the GEC to enrich and inform the experiences trainees face in school.” Emma Cornish, SCITT Lead
Nic and her team will be offering a session for wave 2 schools after half term to get you started on your journey. You can sign up to access this free offer now via the GEC website or email office@thegec.education if you are interested in finding out more or joining.

National wraparound childcare programme |
|
|
During the Spring Budget in March 2023, the government announced an investment of £289m for a national expansion of wraparound childcare for primary aged children. This is part of the wider childcare reforms, and it is the government’s ambition that by 2026, all families who need it, will be able to access term time childcare, from 8am to 6pm, for their school age children.
The programme will be delivered through local authorities (LAs), given our existing childcare sufficiency duty. We will receive funding to enable schools and childcare providers to set up new wraparound provision or expand their existing provision. The DfE will shortly publish guidance for schools, which will include practical guidance to support those who wish to deliver new provision or expand their existing wraparound childcare provision.
Wraparound provision can be offered by schools and PVI providers (including childminders and early years settings). It can be provided on school/nursery premises, in local community spaces or at childminders homes. The programme launches in September 2024 and funding for the programme ends in March 2026.
The LA's Wraparound governance board will shortly recruit a Wraparound programme coordinator to support delivery of the programme and begin mapping the current supply of wraparound provision in Portsmouth. This will enable us to identify gaps in provision e.g., areas, age groups, children with SEND and to begin considering ways in which the capacity funding could be used to address these.
If you are considering expanding your current wraparound offer or are interested in offering new wraparound childcare for your pupils, please email eydelivery@portsmouthcc.gov.uk and share your ideas with the Early years and childcare team.
