Opportunity - Inclusion Outreach SENCOs |
|
|
To add further capacity to the Inclusion Outreach Service we are seeking to second further Outreach SENCOs, from September 2023. Ideally we would like to add capacity to the Core Outreach SENCO team, offering 14 days a year of support.
We would also be very interested to hear from any SENCOs who would be interested in working with us on a more flexible basis, e.g. working on a particular project, but unable to commit to the full 14 days.
We look forward to hearing from you.
MHST programme scoping survey |
|
|
The MHST programme is considering potential future enhancements to the MHST offer, including the range of children and young people's mental health and emotional wellbeing needs which are supported. Along with using learning to date, NHS England is keen to scope and prioritise the potential enhancements and a scoping survey has been launched which will run until Friday 30 June 2023.
They are keen to hear from as many stakeholders as possible including MHSTs, education settings, ICB leads, specialist provider leads, regions etc. and if possible children and young people and their parents/carers.
The full MHST service offer will be reviewed, across all functions, but the scope of this survey is predominantly function 1 (interventions for mild to moderate mental health needs) and as such some of the language is clinical in nature.
Please note that this is not an indication that future programme expansion has been confirmed, rather they are considering possible developments to the breadth of the service offer, both for existing and any (to be confirmed) future teams beyond Wave 10.
MHST summer workshops |
|
|
MHST are offering summer workshops for young people and parents/carers. These are an opportunity to learn CBT-based skills to support young people's mental health and wellbeing. Workshops are being run twice a week at either Somerstown Family Hub (Omega St, PO5 4LP) or Northern Parade Family Hub (Doyle Avenue, PO2 9NE).
Topics include:
- Supporting wellbeing
- Supporting low mood through activity
- Challenging negative thoughts
- Responding to your child's worries
- Managing worries
Each session has a maximum capacity of 20. Please note that due to popular demand, those wishing to attend must register for a place by emailing MHSTcamhsPortsmouth@solent.nhs.uk.

Day in the life of a Portsmouth foster carer: Michael’s story
“There have been many touching moments… which makes it all worthwhile and lets me know that I’ve been a positive chapter in their story."
Michael, a sole foster carer of teens, continued: “I spent the majority of my childhood in long-term foster care with wonderful carers. I wanted to give something back to children who needed some much-needed care and stability in their lives. My day as a foster carer has two sides to it; the parenting side which is very practical and typical of living with teenage boys, and what I call the fostering side which entails admin work."
Portsmouth City Council needs more foster carers. Could you join Michael in providing Portsmouth's vulnerable children with a loving foster home?
