Early years and childcare superstars shine bright in awards shortlist

Three superstars from early years and childcare settings have made the shortlist in the Teach Portsmouth Awards.

For the first time ever, the awards scheme welcomed applications from this sector, as a way to recognise emerging talent and highlight best practice locally.

Catherine Holloway (Manor Infant School and Nursery), Sarah Jane Whatling (Parade Community Preschool) and Sayeed Ali (Rainbow Corner Nursery School) were recognised for going above and beyond to support children in their nurseries and preschool. Catherine told us:

"When I found out I was put forward for an award, I was shocked. No one has ever done that for me before - it was such a lovely gesture. To then find out I've been shortlisted is incredible. It's really nice being recognised. I love my job - it is challenging but super rewarding".

We would like to congratulate all three as well as everyone who was put forward for the award. The winner will be announced at Portsmouth Guildhall on Thursday 29 June.
