The responses to this survey will be used to shape future services for children and young people with SEND and their families.
The survey will be open until Sunday 26 March 2023. Parents and carers can fill in the survey online or request paper copies by emailing eandsc@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
Helping young people learn about healthy relationships |
|
|
Over the next six weeks, Stop Domestic Abuse will be running sessions in schools and colleges across the city to help young people learn about healthy relationships, and the signs of domestic abuse.
As part of our Is This Love campaign, we're encouraging all young people in the city to take our short online quiz to help them understand if their relationship is healthy. The quiz is confidential and will show people where to get support if they need it.
If you know, or work, with a young person, please encourage them to visit the Is This Love website to take the quiz and learn where to get help. Adults can also take the quiz to learn more about their own relationship.
Recording neurodiversity (ND) profiles on the Insight Hub |
|
|
We are pleased to inform you that we now have an opportunity for recording any ND profiles that have been completed for children within your school on the 'Insight Hub', school portal. Step-by-step instructions showing how to record ND profiles can be found here.
Every school has their own individual school portal for vulnerable pupil tracking, which pulls together various data sources for children who attend your school. If you do not currently have access to this, then please speak to your DSL within school who will be familiar with the portal and will be able to submit the information for you.
We recommend that you record any ND profiles that you have already completed for children within your school, and continue to record these as and when you complete them.
Alternatively, you can email the Neurodiversity Team with the names of children in your school who have had the profiling tool completed and the team will add them to the hub for you. Please email Neurodiversity0-19Enquiries@portsmouthcc.gov.uk with the names and date of birth for each child.

The deadline for submitting nominations for the Teach Portsmouth Awards has been extended to Friday 10 March 2023 to give colleagues more time to get involved.
This year, we've updated old categories with new names and introduced three additional ones to recognise even more people. We would welcome nominations for the new progress award, governor's award and early years and childcare award categories. You can now nominate online using the form located on the website. We would encourage those appointed to draft their school/college's nomination using the Word template which can be downloaded from the website using the link below.
Webinar recording: How to write a nomination? If you were unable to attend our webinar on how to write a nomination, a recording is now available to watch on the Teach Portsmouth website.
Host, Frances Soul, independent chairperson, Portsmouth Education Partnership utilised her own experiences from the shortlisting panel in last year's awards to give attendees top tips on how to write the best supporting statement.

Help us develop a new recruitment event for non-teaching staff |
|
|
Teach Portsmouth are aware of the ongoing challenges facing schools and colleges when recruiting staff. In response to this, the team are proposing a recruitment fair for non-teaching staff in May.
The event would allow schools and colleges from across the city to exhibit and promote their vacancies at Portsmouth Guildhall on Monday 22 May 2023.
The team would like to know…
- Is May the right time to hold such an event to recruit non-teaching staff?
- Are there better times of the year to hold such an event?
The team are still developing the concept and would welcome feedback from senior leaders about the proposed date. Please share your thoughts with us by emailing: teachportsmouth@portsmouthcc.gov.uk by Tuesday 28 February 2023.

Apprenticeship bus programme |
|
|
This year's Apprenticeship Bus Programme has been a huge success, with 10 Portsmouth schools and an estimated 1,400 students taking part in the event. This is a three-day event during National Apprenticeship Week that aims to provide students with the opportunity to meet local apprentices to hear more about their career journey and experience.
At each school we organised a speed networking session with apprentices from a range of local employers and industries, which provided the opportunity for students to hear about the range of apprenticeship options available and learn more about what an apprenticeship involves. The reception from the schools and students has been fantastic, with lots of students developing a much better understanding of their future options and the apprenticeship routes available. This is an important session that both supports students understanding and helps them to be more confident networking and communicating with people in business and industry.
This programme requires a huge amount of support from local employers and their fantastic apprentices. This year we were supported by 59 apprentices who joined us from Abri, Airbus, BH Live, Biscoes Solicitors, City of Portsmouth College, Haha Training, Hovertravel, Hythe Marine, Marriott Hotel, Mountjoy, New Theatre Royal, The News, the NHS, PMC Construction, Pompey in the Community, Portsmouth City Council, Portsmouth International Port, Rexel Portsmouth, the Royal Navy, Shaping Portsmouth, South Western Railway, Unloc, Vespasian Security, and Waterman Aspen over the three days.
