A message from Viola Langley, Portsmouth Helps Ukraine |
|
|
Welcome back to the new term. We hope you have enjoyed a restorative summer break and are raring to go in September. We at Portsmouth Helps Ukraine have continued to support the people of Ukraine who have not had a break from the war. We have regularly collected and distributed donations from our Cosham-based store.
The need to support Ukraine has not decreased. We are now needing to come back to previous contributors and seek new participants in the next phase of our campaign. Could you help us by appealing to your pupils and their families for donations.
The following items are vital:
- Non-perishable food (rice, pasta, noodles, dried potato)
- Beverages (tea, coffee, chocolate)
- Medical supplies (painkillers, bandages, tape, surgical aprons/masks/gloves/crutches etc.)
- Nappies for babies
- Incontinence pads for older people
- Sleeping bags, duvets, thick blankets
Please contact Viola Langley (email langleyviola1@hotmail.com or phone 07907941939) to arrange collection of your donations.
We fully understand that this request comes at a difficult time for our own residents but trust some of your community will be able to contribute to ensure the survival of others less fortunate. Thank you.

Portsmouth International Port – school open day |
|
|
On Thursday 13 October 2022, Portsmouth International Port is inviting years 5 and 6 to experience a taster session for local schools demonstrating port operations, travel and tourism and showcase the range of careers that are available within our maritime city. We are joining with our partners Portico cargo terminal, the Royal Navy, Historic Dockyard, Hovertravel and Viking Cruises to give tours of each location and hear from a range of staff working in the sector. This event will take place during Maritime UK Week, which is recognised nationally and celebrates the industry and opportunities it offers to coastal and port communities.
We already have a number of schools signed up and have had media interest to cover the event both regionally and nationally. Sessions will be split into morning and afternoon periods to maximise the opportunity and give pupils the best experience. Please note that schools will need to provide their own transport for the day.
If you would like to book a place, please contact chris.hatter@portsmouth-port.co.uk for more information.

October school census - Thursday 6 October 2022
The Autumn School Census takes place on Thursday 6 October 2022. If your school has purchased the EIS SLA the deadline for census checking reports is Thursday 13 October 2022. Please ensure that you upload your census return to COLLECT by this deadline to enable the checking reports to be created and sent back to you. These reports will help you validate your data and ensure its accuracy. If you cannot submit on time, please contact us ASAP. If your school is an academy that has purchased the EIS SLA please upload a copy of your school census to SSE by the deadline and inform us you have done so by emailing education.informationservices@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
All schools must have an approved return in COLLECT by Wednesday 2 November 2022. Please be aware that DfE may still require your school to make changes to your census after this date.
A familiarisation blade is currently available for schools to check that their MIS is extracting the correct data for upload to COLLECT. Uploading to the blade will highlight any validation errors or queries against your school's data ahead of the census day. This blade will close at 4pm on Friday 30 September 2022.
Please call 023 9284 1001 or email education.informationservices@portsmouthcc.gov.uk for further information.
Multiplication tables check 2022
We have been advised by STA that the MTC service website will only remain open until Friday 30 September 2022. If you have not yet downloaded your results CTF from the MTC service, you will need to do so before it closes.
If you upload your file to SSE (details in email from André Merel, sent 13 July 2022), the Education Information and Performance team will be able to include analysis of your results in the final version of the 2022 school profile. Even if you are not planning to send your file to us, we would recommend downloading it from the MTC service for your own records, while you are still able to do so.
Please note, the results file from the MTC service and the KS2 results file from Primary Assessment Gateway appear to have the same naming convention (both are called 851XXXX_KS2_851XXXX_001.xml, where XXXX is your school's establishment number). If you try to save both files in the same folder, your computer won't know that they are different files and might try to replace one file with the other. Where possible, we would recommend making sure you save the MTC file and the KS2 file in separate folders to ensure that you don't overwrite one with the other, and to make it easier for you to identify which file is which.
Please email education.informationservices@portsmouthcc.gov.uk for further information.
