South East Hampshire Rapid Transit aims to transform the way people travel between Portsmouth and surrounding towns.
By enhancing existing public transport services through new and improved bus priority routes, South East Hampshire Rapid Transit will make travelling by bus a more attractive option
We're now looking at developing plans to improve bus priority and connectivity at key locations in Portsmouth: Portsbridge Roundabout, Rudmore Roundabout, and Spur Road Roundabout. You can also find more information about these schemes, as well as others in the region, at our Virtual Engagement event at sehrt.org.uk.
Follow the links below to share your views about each scheme, so these can be developed in the best way for everyone in Portsmouth.
This scheme will address congestion and improve safety in the Portsbridge roundabout area, and will also improve approaches to the roundabout.
These proposals will benefit all road users by offering a wider shared path for walking and cycling, easing congestion at busy junctions and introducing bus priority measures to help keep buses running on time.

Rudmore roundabout is a busy junction, used by local traffic, buses and a variety of vehicles accessing Portsmouth city centre, the Portsmouth International Port and cargo terminal, Portico, and the M275. The area is often congested at peak times, delaying local and Park & Ride bus services.
Our proposals will benefit all road users by widening roads, extending a bus lane and changeing the layout of the roundabout to help keep buses running on time.

Spur Road roundabout is where traffic crosses from the main north to south London Road and the busy east to west Southampton Road/Havant Road. The roundabout is often congested, delaying journeys on this key route, which is particularly important for accessing the QA hospital.
These proposals will benefit all road users by making it easier to cross the busy road, contribute to shorter bus journey times and creating safer spaces for people to walk and cucle.
