Your step by step guide to the Teach Portsmouth Awards Live
With less than two weeks to go until the Teach Portsmouth Awards Live, the team have put together a useful guide on how to prepare for the livestream. We want you to have an enjoyable evening streaming the event. There are a few things you can do to improve your viewing experience that won't take too long. Please follow our step by step guide to ensure you are ready for the big day.
Where possible, we're also encouraging colleagues to celebrate their achievements by sharing what they are doing during the ceremony on Twitter using the hashtag #TPA21 and tagging @TeachPortsmouth. The Teach Portsmouth team will be sharing, liking and commenting on posts during the event, recognising your efforts over the last two academic years.

Teach Portsmouth have revealed the shortlisted nominees in 9 award categories ahead of the awards ceremony on Thursday 8 July from 5pm.
From the innovation in teaching award to the unsung hero award, teachers, support teams and head teachers have been put forward by colleagues for their incredible achievements.
Take a look at the shortlist on the Teach Portsmouth website. If you or a colleague has been shortlisted, don't forget to share the news on social media using the hashtag #TPA21.
The winners will be announced at the Teach Portsmouth Awards Live on Thursday 8 July.
Portsmouth has spoken!
The people's choice award gave local residents the chance to recognise a local teacher, support team or leader who has gone above and beyond the call of duty during the pandemic.
If your colleague was put forward for the award, they now feature on the Teach Portsmouth website alongside the reasons why they were nominated.

Free training: Introduction to physical computing (KS2)
In conjunction with Park House Computing Hub, Phil Wickins will be facilitating some free training at the University of Portsmouth on Tuesday 6 July.
The face to face training lasts 90 minutes and aims to give KS2 teachers an introduction to physical computing using the popular Crumble kit.
There are three times to choose from: 10am, 2pm or 4pm.
PSRHE network meetings
From September, the PSRHE traded service network meetings will be split into separate meetings for primary and secondary schools. Dates for the full academic year will be sent in advance. All traded service schools can request items for the agenda to suit the needs of your school and any area of PSRHE that you require support with. To request an agenda item, please email Chantelle.Knight@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
For more information about the type of support packages available through the PSRHE traded service visit the website or contact the traded services team directly at Traded.Service@portsmouthcc.gov.uk.
Packages start from as little as £155 and include:
- Access to the PSHE leads' termly network meetings with multi agency professional input, for example CAMHS, Hampshire Constabulary, Stonewall, Drug and Alcohol Services.
- Networking and sharing of good practice, updates and developments nationally and locally, case work/troubleshooting, planning and assessment and a multitude of signposting resources to all areas of the PSRHE framework.
- Leads receive support with policy writing and review, RSE governance, parental engagement and training from specialist providers (e.g. Stonewall, CAMHS) as well as resources to support national weeks such as anti-bullying week, road safety week and neurodiversity week.
- A full PSRHE school auditing tool is also available as well as subsequent support with subject development.
Upcoming courses and workshops at The Learning Place
Family Learning, part of Community Learning Service, will be delivering a variety of free Family Learning workshops at the Learning Place during the summer holiday. The workshops will give families the opportunity to work on art and craft activities together and learn some new facts.
From September, the Community Learning Service will be delivering the highly successful free level 2 qualification 'support work in schools and colleges'. This course is an excellent introduction for those parents who wish to work in schools.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) training dates |

The YMHFA course, split over two days, looks at recognising, understanding and supporting the mental health of young people - as encountered within the educational setting. The course takes an in-depth focus on the following areas of mental health as experienced by young people: depression, suicide, self-harm, psychosis, eating disorders and anxiety disorders.
The July course is now fully booked. Further dates this year are:

Free training courses for out-of-school settings
Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Partnership (PSCP) is providing free online training which gives an overview of the new guidance issued by the Department for Education entitled: Keeping children safe during community activities, after-school clubs and tuition.
Places are available to anyone who is a provider of an out-of-school setting or school staff who are interested and would like to join the session.
The free training will take place on the following dates:
- Monday 5 July, 11am-12.30pm
- Tuesday 10 August, 11am-12.30pm
- Wednesday 15 September, 4.30pm-6pm
- Friday 19 November, 11am-12.30pm

Portsmouth SEND partnership update
The third edition of the Portsmouth SEND partnership update is now available. This update is for professionals across education, health, care and the voluntary and community sector in Portsmouth who work with the children and young people aged 0 to 25 with SEND and their families. This issue includes information on:

- Portsmouth Inclusive Education Quality Mark (PIE QM)
- SEND accommodation strategy
- Inclusion capital grants - successful bids for 2021
- An introduction to the designated clinical officer for SEND

LA updates
New location for Portsmouth's COVID-19 test site
Portsmouth's new COVID-19 test site is now open on Commercial Road (former Sainsbury's superstore).
If you develop symptoms - a high temperature, new continuous cough or a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste, or get a positive result using a rapid lateral flow test, you should book a PCR test.
The test site is open seven days a week: 8am-1.30pm is for pre-booked PCR test appointments, and 2.30pm-8pm for rapid lateral flow home test kit collection. Book a test online or by calling 119. Parking is available at nearby Clarence Street and the NCP outdoor car parks.
The Eldon Road test site is now closed.
Victoria Park community fair
A community fair is taking place at Victoria Park on Saturday 10 July (11am-2pm) to share plans for the future of the park. Activities include:
- Over 30 stalls from local makers, community groups and charities
- Taster workshops from groups including the Wildlife Trust, Aspex Gallery, Good Mental Health Coop and Portsmouth Ambassadors
- Family activities and games including a new children’s animal trail and a Conan Doyle mystery trail
- Performances by Red Sauce Theatre Company and local dance group Fit ‘n’ Funkey
- Talks and walks on the trees of the park, the park’s history and naval memorials
- Bring a picnic or enjoy food and drink from the café in the park as well as several food stalls
- Public toilets will also be available during the event.
