Teacher trainees start spring school placements

Portsmouth Primary SCITT's trainees have now started their spring school placements. After a few weeks back in the virtual training room honing their teaching skills, trainees are supporting in school as well as with remote lessons.

Trainee Ella writes: “despite the differences between the autumn and spring term, there is still much to learn. Observing how the children learn in new and different ways and how the teachers need to tailor learning and feedback to suit individual needs, has proven invaluable.”

Portsmouth Primary SCITT told us that the trainees are demonstrating superb levels of resilience which will only prove beneficial when it comes to interviews and when they take the lead in their own classroom. Ensuring wellbeing and positive mindset has been a focus this half term. Trainees have been given the opportunity to attend ‘social’ drop-in sessions to help combat lockdown fatigue.
