Brittany Ferries
In recent months, Brittany Ferries have been working on ways to involve as many people as possible in the inauguration of Galicia, despite of the challenges of the pandemic.
To mark the occasion, they have planned a virtual inauguration, including a tour of the ship, interviews and beautiful images of the interior.
Measuring 215 metres long, Galicia is the first new-build Brittany Ferries ship in over a decade, and also the biggest.
With her high standards of design and comfort Galicia is truly the ferry of tomorrow, ready to reveal all the riches of travel by sea. She has been designed and decorated to showcase the colours and feelings of her namesake, the fantastic Celtic region of Galicia, easily reached from Santander.
The ship will operate two round trips each week between Portsmouth and Santander in northern Spain, and one weekly round trip between Portsmouth and Cherbourg.
The best thing about the virtual inauguration is that you are all invited - all you need to do is head here at 10am GMT (11am CET) on Friday November 27 to take part!
We’re looking forward to next year as Fred. Olsen launches four new itineraries from Portsmouth, on their prestigious ship Balmoral.
Fred. Olsen’s unique maritime heritage and knowledge of British cruising tastes means they provide unrivalled holiday experiences creating memories that will last a lifetime, and has made them one the UK’s favourite cruise lines.
Passengers can enjoy sailings along the Seine, search for the Northern lights, head to the warmth of the Canaries and enjoy Christmas markets in Germany.
The port has been working hard making sure passengers can travel safely, with stringent measures in place. This includes being one of the first ports in the UK recognised by independent assessors for new protocols to manage and reduce the risk of COVID-19 infections.

With changes to the imports and exports to and from the EU, this means many businesses might be facing having to deal with custom declarations for the first time.
Fortunately, Portico customs agency, based at the port, regularly handle thousands of customs declarations at all UK ports. They have the right systems to talk to HMRC to make sure goods reach their destination without delay.
They can also make duty payments up front on your behalf, with deferment powers increased to £1m.
They are fully accredited and authorised by the government. When commissioning an agent you should always look for AEO accreditation. This means they can process paperwork faster, benefit from priority clearance, and means a lower risk score. This may reduce the number of checks customs carry out on your documents and goods.
