recovery and reset

The recover and reset group have been meeting since May and we wanted to share with you some of the discussions we have had:

Sufficiency during these challenging times and business support - if you would like any 1:1 support please let us know and we can arrange for our business consultant Jo Pringle from Hempsalls to do a zoom call with you to discuss any business concerns you may have.

Managing bubbles and infection control during the pandemic - latest guidelines are here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-early-years-and-childcare-closures.

From July 20th providers will no longer be limited to working in bubbles which means everyone will be able to work towards gradually increasing their numbers again.

Transition to Year R and key messages to parents can be found here

Top Tips for marketing for those whose numbers are low include:

Facebook advertising, virtual tours of the nursery/setting via Facebook or individual zoom tours with parents, leaflet drops, posters in local shops, asking parents to share social media posts, paid for social media boosting to enhance your local target audience.

We have discussed a variety of issues that are specific to childminders, a particular concern has been around being able to go outside and the interpretation of the guidelines. Now that the rules are more relaxed childminders will be able to risk assess and use common sense to decide what is and is not appropriate to do during these difficult times.

Funding has been discussed and any updates from this have been sent to you via email as soon as decisions have been made.

If you would like a topic to be put on our agenda for discussion please email eyfunding@portsmouthcc.gov.uk and we will discuss at our next meeting. We have an Ofsted inspector who sits on the group with us and who will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
