The council appreciates that following the guidance issued by the government yesterday early years settings may find it increasingly difficult to manage settings due to staffing shortages. At present the government has not given any directive to close educational settings and we know how hard everyone is working to keep settings open.
However, if an early years provider is unable to meet statutory ratios due to staffing shortages, then in such circumstances, it may be necessary to close for a temporary period. Please contact eyfunding@portsmouthcc.gov.uk to inform us of any closures.
In such circumstances, the council will honour early education funding payments for the duration of the closure.
