Portsmouth Inclusive Education Quality Mark (PIE QM) launch |
|
 |
We were absolutely delighted to officially launch the PIE QM last week. This event was attended by head teachers and senior leaders from the majority of schools in Portsmouth. There was a real buzz in the room and a great sense of partnership working in our drive to become an even more inclusive city. As they began the process of self and peer assessment the schools showed their commitment to inclusive education, in their settings and across the city. We are looking forward to awarding the Quality Mark to participating schools in recognition of this work.
Schools who were unable to attend the launch can still get involved. Please contact Sarah Christopher for further information.

Aspirations Week
Thank you to everyone for taking part in Aspirations Week 2020 and helping to make it a success. We've received lots of positive feedback about all the activities that took place across Portsmouth. We hope the week reinforced the importance of attending school regularly and thinking about future careers to help young people achieve their aspirations.
Please continue to share photos of your activities from the week with us on social media using the hashtag #AspirationsWeek
The Aspirations Week webpage contains links to useful resources to help you continue the conversation of aspirations.
Pupils from Stamshaw Junior School took part in Aspirations Week with a final 'dress up as your future self' day on the Friday with all proceeds going to the Air Ambulance. The week was led by Amanda Bushell, a year 6 teacher and SMSC lead. Each year group had the opportunity to hear from a variety of people talking about their careers.
The photograph shows the week being launched with the Air Ambulance taking part in the school's assembly.

Stonewall Silver Award for Portsmouth Children and Young People's Services (CYPS)
Portsmouth City Council has been awarded Stonewall's Silver CYPS Champion Award.
This is a fantastic achievement which places us as one of the top performing authorities nationally. Only nine Local Authorities met the threshold for an award so we are delighted to receive the Silver Award.
This award is a celebration of close working with education settings and with stakeholders across the city. Feedback from Stonewall recognises that we have "a great array of work being done across many different teams and departments to be more LGBT inclusive".

We will continue to work with Stonewall and other partnerships to further develop and strengthen this work.
