My Teacher on a Postcard - presenting the awards

Teach Portsmouth

We are busy visiting assembly at nine schools to present the awards. There are 3 overall winners in each category, 10 pupils who were highly commended and 4 judge's choice winners. The level of excitement from the children has been very high, with lots of applause as the certificates and medals were presented. Seven lucky children won £25 gift card for their postcards. Their schools will also benefit and receive a book of all of the postcards submitted by their school. Thank you to everyone who took part. The competition has certainly been a success and we look forward to devising next year's competition!

Teacher Training Advisers

Teacher Training Advisers (TTAs) provide one-to-one support to candidates and help them to navigate their journey to ITT. In ITT2019 alone they supported over 20,000 prospective candidates with their applications. For ITT2020, TTAs will offer support to all graduates wishing to train to teach in any subject. They will also assist candidates up to two years away from applying, including first and second-year undergraduate students, to help them prepare for teacher training in the future.

Candidates can contact the team via telephone on 0800 389 2500, or register on the Get into Teaching website.

Charter Secondary Expansion Poject

Charter secondary expansion project - Steelworks ceremony

Caroline Corcoran and Chris Williams attended the ceremony at Charter Academy on 11th November 2020. A group of pupils from the School Council represented the pupils. Emily Morey (Headteacher) made a short speech as did the contractor, Midas. Then everyone present signed the last steel girder in the frame for the building before the crane lifted it into place. This is a significant moment in the project and the scale of the new building was evident. The project at Charter is one of three secondary expansion projects which are due to complete for the 2020/21 academic year. The other two projects are at The Portsmouth Academy, and Admiral Lord Nelson School.
