Updating Portsmouth Local Plan

The council has started work to update Portsmouth's Local Plan. It will contain policies for the development and protection of land and allocate land for new development or for the re-development of existing buildings.

We are at the early stages of this process and have prepared an 'issues and options' document, which sets out our understanding of the planning issues concerning the city, and options for how we deal with them.

There are also supporting documents giving further detail on different subjects, such as housing and the environment.

We would like your views on the 'issues and options' document. We are contacting residents, businesses and organisations to ask if we have identified all the planning issues correctly and what you think of the options we have for the future.

We are holding exhibitions at the following venues to explain the to explain the documents and how to respond:

Eastney Community Centre, 2-8pm 13 September - Bransbury Rd, Eastney, PO4 9SU

John Pounds Centre, 2-8pm 15 September - 23 Queen Street, Portsmouth PO1 3HN

Cosham Community Centre, 2-8pm 19 September - Wootton Street Cosham PO6 3AP

Havelock Community Centre, 3-8pm, 21 September - 324 Fawcett Road Southsea PO4 0LQ

North End Baptist Church, 10-2pm, 23 September - 195 Powerscourt Road Portsmouth PO2 7JH

We will use the results of this consultation to help our work on the new Local Plan which we will be working on over the next year.

The 'issues and options' document, and all the supporting documents can be found on the council's website at https://www.portsmouth.gov.uk/ext/development-and-planning/planning/the-local-plan.aspx

We would be very grateful if you can take part in our consultation by completing the online survey that is also on this webpage.

If you are unable to take the online survey we have also prepared a comment form which can be downloaded from the webpage or collected from the Civic Offices or libraries and returned by post, email or handed in at the Civic Offices.

You can email us your comments to planningpolicy@portsmouthcc.gov.uk or post them to:
