Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Roger Hirst spoke live on air on BBC Essex on Friday 2nd May, reassuring the public about the rigorous vetting process in place for all Essex Police staff and officers.
The PFCC spoke after a judge at Ipswich Crown Court jailed a former Essex Police officer for four and-a-half years after the man admitted a series of online child sexual offences.

All residents of Harlow district invited to annual PFCC Public Meeting
The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner (PFCC) for Essex is inviting residents from across the Harlow district to attend a public meeting to learn more about crime and community safety in their area.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday 6th May at Passmores Academy, Tracyes Road, Harlow, CM18 6JH, starting at 7pm to 8pm.
“Being able to hear directly from local communities is essential,” said Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner.
“This meeting is a valuable opportunity to understand your concerns and ensure we are working together to make Harlow a safer district.”
