WOMEN AND GIRLS TO HAVE SAY IN ONLINE SAFETY MAP

A new online map that women and girls in Essex will be able to use to highlight areas they feel safe or unsafe has been launched in Essex.

The map is being rolled out across the county jointly by Essex County Council, Essex Police and the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex. The project is supported by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and researchers at Nottingham Trent University

PFCC funds support for sexual violence survivors

Professionals providing support to survivors of sexual violence are working to prevent future abuse. CARA (Centre for Action on Rape and Abuse) works with victims and survivors of sexual violence and child sexual abuse, providing independent, specialist support and promoting and representing their rights and needs.

The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex (PFCC) has contributed £14,000 to CARA (Centre for Action on Rape and Abuse) in the form of a crime and disorder reduction grant from the 2022-2023 Community Safety Development Fund to enable it to continue to carry out this work.

LIFESAVING BLEED KITS PLACED IN FRINTON AND WALTON

Local communities now have easier access to vital, life-saving equipment after Julie Taylor handed out two new bleed kits to the Essex Skipper in Frinton-on-Sea and the Pier, Walton-on-the-Naze. Julie was joined by Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, Clacton MP Giles Watling and local Councillor, Mark Platt.

The bleed kits cost £104 each and contain vital life saving equipment to help stem bleeding in life threatening situations. The kits are easy to use and Julie teaches staff at the venues what is in the kits and how to use them when they are placed in the venues.

New firefighters lined up in front of a fire engine

New Firefighters join Essex Fire and Rescue Service 

 

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service has welcomed 17 new firefighters during a passing out ceremony at the Service Training Centre in Witham last week.

The new recruits will be heading to Basildon, Chelmsford, Grays, Harlow, Leigh, Loughton, Orsett and Southend fire stations.

The ceremony was attended by Chief Fire Officer / Chief Executive Rick Hylton and Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex. Proud family, friends and colleagues looked on in the crowd and the ceremony was live streamed for those who couldn’t make it in person.
