PFCC's online youth event engages with hundreds across Essex
Hundreds of pupils from secondary schools in Essex tuned into the PFCC Live Access online event and questioned the Commissioner and representatives from the emergency services on how they are keeping them safe across the county.
Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner said: “The event has been exceptional, with more young people joining the sessions and taking part than was anticipated. Thank you to everyone who sent in some really thought provoking and challenging questions.
“The sessions dealt with really important topics and the feedback provided by the young people on these subjects will be key to informing the further work of my team, the police, fire services and our partners.”
You can catch up on the sessions and read more from the day below.

Essex Emergency Services Celebrate International Women's Day
Colleagues from Essex’s emergency services met this week to mark International Women’s Day.
Each year on 8 March, colleagues from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust and Essex Police hold a conference to celebrate the achievements of women in the emergency services.
Jane said: “This event really is a highlight of the year. It gets better and better and after each one I feel energised and excited that we have such a passionate bunch of people working together and supporting each other. The relationships we form at events like these help us to collaborate and work together as emergency service partners – working together we can do even more to help keep people in Essex safe.”

PFCC funds free training to help recognise the signs of domestic abuse
Free training is being offered across Essex to ensure everyone is equipped to respond appropriately and effectively if they suspect someone is a victim of domestic abuse or if someone reveals they are suffering abuse.
The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex (PFCC) is contributing £30,000 to the project to enable Essex residents to continue to receive the training free of charge.
The Community 9 Domestic Abuse Initiative brings training to all residents who are keen to recognise domestic abuse and learn how to respond to survivors.
