What are your thoughts on paying for policing and fire rescue services in Essex? Do you want more investment in the services and what are your priorities? These are the questions being asked by Roger Hirst, the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex.

He is asking for your opinion before he sets out plans for the 2022/2023 policing and fire and rescue services budget for the county. You can fill in our survey to give your views.

Roger has also recorded a video message about why it is important to take part in the survey. You can watch it here.

Paying our respects

Essex Remembers

Essex fell silent at 11am yesterday to remember those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect others during conflict.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and Essex Police held special services at their respective headquarters and across stations and places of work.

Representing Roger Hirst, Deputy PFCC Jane Gardner laid a wreath at ECFRS HQ along side Rick Hylton.

Jane said: "Remembrance Day is not only about mourning lives lost. It is a time to say thank you to all who serve and risk their lives for us.

"For those who have gone before. For those who lost so much and gave everything. We will never forget. We will remember you."
