ECFRS praised for Covid-19 response by HMICFRS

Roger TV Interview

Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) has praised the way Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) has continued to keep its public and residents safe while supporting partners through the pandemic.

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “There is some really positive feedback from this inspection that echoes what I’ve seen the Service deliver during this pandemic.

"HMICFRS has recognised the ECFRS's commitment to its core services and staff wellbeing throughout this difficult time, in addition to going above and beyond in the way it supported other emergency services and public sector organisations.

“The inspectorate's findings reflect the Service’s hard work and the culture we now have. I am incredibly proud of our fire service as are the residents of Essex. Feedback from our regular public engagement meetings has been nothing but praise.”

PFCC helps to provide free domestic abuse awareness training

Training sessions to help spot signs of domestic abuse and support those affected are available through the J9 Domestic Abuse Initiative.
J9 training is open to professionals and anyone working in the community, helping them to recognise domestic abuse and respond to survivors.
The free, hour-long awareness raising sessions equip attendees with the tools to recognise abuse, respond appropriately and help people access the support they need.

Roger Hirst, Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex, said: “Breaking the cycle of domestic abuse is one of the priorities in our Police and Crime Plan. Working together with partners across the county, our objective is to help those who suffer in silence and reduce the impact on children and families. The J9 training helps people recognise the signs and indicators of domestic abuse and gives victims confidence that they will get the help and support they need. It really is a great initiative and one that we are proud to support.”
The Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex has previously awarded the J9 Initiative with £20,000 of funding from the Community Safety Development Fund.
