Sounds Around Town 2024
Penrith Town Council, working with Plug & Play, Eden Valley Artistic Network and the Penrith Arts & Culture group, has funded and arranged for bands / artists to play around Penrith on Saturday's across the Summer.
Sounds Around Town showcases the enormous wealth of local talent we have in Penrith (and the surrounding area) and aims to encourage more visitors into the town centre and increase the ‘dwell time’ of those visitors by giving them bands / artists worth sticking around for!
This Saturday (1 June) we have BlueJam Folk Group playing at St Andrews, and the following Saturday (8 June) we have Uncle Carbuncle playing at the Cornmarket Bandstand.
Check those acts out if you're in and around the town centre on either of those Saturday's!

Penrith Players: The Dresser
The Dresser by Ronald Harwood is a witty and poignant play about a touring theatre company in wartime Britain.
As bombs fall around them the show must go on. The action takes place backstage where the domineering actor manager, simply called Sir, is propped up by his long suffering wife, and Norman his devoted dresser, so he can perform his final King Lear.
It takes all his dresser Norman’s skills to get him onstage for one more performance. The show must go on, but at what cost?

- Thu 6 Jun 2024, 7.30pm

CAFS & PACT: Electric Vehicles Made Easy
Date & Time: Monday 1 July, 19:00 – 21:00
Venue: Evergreen Centre
The team at Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS) are on a mission to help unravel the world of electric vehicles and charge points for householders and small businesses in Cumbria. They can help you decide whether an electric vehicle is right for you – either now or in the future.
Their free event in Penrith, held in partnership with sustainability group Penrith Action for Community Transition (PACT), will hear from local EV experts and drivers and Charge My Street. It will explore the benefits, costs, options and myths surrounding EV technology, batteries, charging, and via the expert panel Q&A session you can get answers to questions that are baffling or concerning you.
They are keen to hear about any experience you may have of EVs, any challenges you perceive around switching to electric and what support you would value at a local level that could help you move forward confidently.
Wherever you are on your journey towards a greener, more sustainable way of driving – this event is for you. You might be considering your first step towards an EV, or you may already have an EV and want to share your experience with others and ask for specific advice.
Refreshments (tea, coffee, and biscuits) will be provided as well as plenty of opportunity to meet and share experiences with other residents and businesses in the area, as well as access to advice from the experts.
