The Outside Club at Pategill Park is back following a £1,300 grant from Penrith Town Council.
Run by Stomping Ground CIC, the Outside Club at Pategill Park is an inclusive, friendly and accessible outdoor activity session including activities such as building dens, making and creating cool things and playing in Stomping Ground's mud kitchen!
The Outside Club is aimed at 8–15-year-olds from the Pategill Community and is completely free. Take part in sessions every Tuesday between 4:00pm and 6:30pm from now right up until 10 December 2024, including the holidays.
Stomping Ground provide shelter from the rain, head torches and lights and hot drinks over the early Spring months.
On Tuesday 27 February, Doug Lawson, Penrith Town Council Chair & Mayor of Penrith visited the Outside Club and said:
“How fantastic it is to visit the Outside Club at Pategill Park and see all of the smiling faces of children and young people getting stuck in to their after-school activity!
“The Council prides itself on making a difference – so I am glad to see this activity provide the children and young people of the Pategill community free and fun activities to take part in every Tuesday come rain or shine.
“It is days like this which make me proud to be Mayor of this great town, a pride which also stems from the Council’s ability and willingness to fund important projects such as this.”

Gemma Webb, Director at Stomping Ground CIC, said:
“A massive thank you goes to Penrith Town Council for its grant support for our particular flavour of out-reach outdoor youthwork!
“Funding from Penrith Town Council and other partners such as the Cumbria Youth Alliance and Westmorland and Furness Council will allow this project to run all the way up to December 2024, which is fantastic news for the community of Pategill and anyone who wants to see more kids playing outdoors and making friends locally.
“Our events and workshops are tailored to the community we are working with, and we know from our previous work at Pategill that this type of activity is really supported by the tenants and residents on the estate.
“For any members of the Pategill community who haven’t heard from us and are interested in joining the Outdoor Club, please get in touch with myself by email: gemma@stompingground.org.uk or by telephone: 07970683317, or simply come on down to Pategill Park any Tuesday between 4:00pm and 6:30pm.”

Speed Indicator Devices maintenance
The Speed Indicator Devices (SIDs) on Beacon Edge, Carleton Road and Bridge Lane have recently been cleaned by the Council's Community Caretaker.
SIDs accurately measure the oncoming vehicles speed and displays this value to the driver, reminding them to slow down if they have crept above the speed limit.
This regular maintenance ensures the SIDs are able to keep doing what they were installed to do!

Track repairs at Salkeld Road allotments
Works have taken place this month to improve the track into Salkeld Road Allotments.
The Council's Community Caretaker, Urbaser has used Binding gravel in a number of potholes on the track which has made it easier for plot holders to drive their vehicles into the allotments.
The track repair work will soften over time.

Beacon Edge Bench Maintenance
A bench on Beacon Edge has been repaired following damage.
The bench had some loose bolting to the ground, identified through regular inspection by the Council team.
This has since been rectified, allowing residents to take a rest on their walks along Beacon Edge.
