Shakers: Under New Management
Penrith Players are excited to be staging the community theatre premier of Shakers: Under New Management by John Godber from 14th to 17th February.
This revamped version of the iconic play, Shakers - first performed in 1984 - sees the infamous Shakers bar under new management.
Waitresses Adele, Nicky and Mel have been tasked with the job of making the bar "a place to be seen" as the hospitality industry looks to a bright new post-Covid future.
Funny, physical and fizzing with wit, Shakers: Under New Management puts women front and centre as a spotlight is shone on their hectic lives and the punters they are forced to grapple with during the course of their shift.
Venue: Penrith Playhouse, Auctionmart Ln, Penrith, CA11 7JG
Dates and times: 14, 15, 16 & 17 February 2024, all at 7:30pm
For more information and to book tickets, please visit the Penrith Players website.

Art&Design Saturday Club at The Studio Morland
Art&Design Saturday Club at The Studio Morland is a free weekly art class for seriously creative 13–16-year-olds who live in Eden, Cumbria.
During the sessions you will be guided by pros and supported by student mentors aged 17-18 to create impressive pieces of art while building up your creative portfolio, honing specialist skills that aren’t available on the school curriculum.
Got a dream of something you want to create or make? Saturday Club will be the place! Sessions will be entirely shaped by you – our studio space is large and airy, perfect for art big and small. In 2022 we built giant willow lanterns and in 2023 we experimented with fused glass art – we’re excited to see what Art Club in 2024 will bring!
At the Club, we will work towards being a part of the National Saturday Club exhibition in London, creating something together to be exhibited – a huge opportunity. Club members will also take part in national events including Masterclasses with leading industry professionals.
Venue: The Studio Morland, Morland, Penrith, CA10 3AZ
