EVAN Open Studios and Art Trail
Get involved with Eden Valley Artistic Network's (EVAN) Open Studios & Art Trail 2023!
Running between 2 - 17 September, forty seven artists will open their studios or create a pop-up exhibition as part of this FREE event which combines the opportunity to visit artists’ studios, buy their work, and experience breath-taking scenery around Cumbria along the way.
Studios are located on the edge of the North Pennines right across to the west coast of the county, from the remote hills of the Lake District to the streets of Penrith and Cockermouth as well as across the Eden Valley. It’s a chance not only to buy something original and locally made but, also, to see how and where artists make their work and chat with them about their practice. The range of art available includes textiles, sculpture, jewellery, photography, glass, paintings, ceramics, prints, and more, so there’s something for everyone.
For more information about the Open Studios & Art Trail, please visit the EVAN website.

Music
Cavern Beat Club ft. The Fabs @ Penrith Players
Within minutes of this show starting, you'll know exactly why 'beat' groups dominated the pop music scene in the 1960s.
Hundreds of groups performed at 'beat clubs' throughout the U.K and, at the very heart of these, was The Cavern in Liverpool-which quickly earnt the slogan 'The Most Famous Club in the World'.
The Fabs re-create those exciting times with a recipe of great songs, musical showmanship, excellent harmonies and audience participation.
In a fantastic night to remember, you'll hear songs made famous by:- The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Kinks, Searchers, Merseybeats, Who, Spencer Davis Group and many more-all played on original 1960s equipment. It's 'as it used to be'.....a totally great, LIVE act!
Liverpool-born Steve Quillon (whose 1960s group has a named brick in The Cavern Wall of Fame) leads The Fabs and all members have gigged at the new Cavern. The group's career has spanned ten years and has performed 700+ times.
It's a unique show that recaptures the vibrant music and Scouse humour that you'd have experienced at The Cavern.
Book tickets on the Penrith Players website.

Sounds around Town
Penrith Town Council, working with Plug & Play, EVAN and the Penrith Arts & Culture group, have funded and arranged for bands / artists to play around Penrith on every Saturday across the Summer.
Sounds Around Town showcases the enormous wealth of local talent we have in Penrith (and the surrounding area) and aims to encourage more visitors into the town centre, and increase the ‘dwell time’ of those visitors by giving them bands / artists worth sticking around for!
As the name suggests, bands / artists play in different areas to encourage footfall throughout the town centre benefitting more local businesses and increasing the vibrancy of the whole town.
All bands / artists play around 2pm and finish on or before 4pm.
Summer is now drawing to a close, and so to is our Sounds Around Town project, with just one more artist set to play next Saturday.
So, to round off we have Streetbeats and Bluejam Folk at the Rotary Garden on Saturday 2 September.
Check them out if you're in and around the town centre next Saturday!
