Welcome to my May newsletter

I am really pleased to have been re-elected as your Police and Crime Commissioner and thank you to everyone who voted for me. I am committed to representing everyone living and working in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough and look forward to working with partners to cut crime, support victims and keep all our communities safe.
This month’s highlights include presenting an award to one of Anglia Ruskin University’s Graphic Designs students who has created an exciting new logo for my office, supporting Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s recent countywide knife amnesty and highlighting available support for all victims of crime through my Victim and Witness Hub.

New OPCC branding designed by Anglia Ruskin Student
A group of 20 Graphic Design students from Anglia Ruskin University spent their second trimester creating a logo that would better represent the role and responsibilities of the Commissioner and his team.
I was impressed with every design – each one of the students has worked incredibly hard on the brief and produced some amazing work. The new logo perfectly encapsulates what PCCs do. I look forward to rolling it out and highlighting the talents of our young people in Cambridgeshire.

More than 150 weapons taken off the streets in Cambridgeshire Constabulary's Knife Amnesty success
Cambridgeshire Constabulary hosted a knife amnesty earlier this month to combat knife crime and serious violence.
Thank you to everyone who supported the amnesty and contributed to making our streets safer. This was a promising result and a great way of raising awareness of the dangers of carrying knives and weapons.
I am committed to investing in projects and leading the county’s response to prevent serious violence.

Have you been a victim or witness of a crime?
The Victim and Witness Hub is a free confidential service which provides emotional and practical support to victims or witnesses of crime to help them cope and recover from the impact of crime.
They support all victims of crime including those who do not want to report their crime to the police. You can self-refer to the hub by email or via the freephone number.

Volunteers from Cambridgeshire's Scrutiny Panel mark achievements
Members of the county’s Community Scrutiny Panel met with police officers and representatives from the Commissioner’s office to reflect on progress made over the last 12 months at their 3rd Annual General Meeting.
The Community Scrutiny Panel is made up of a group of independent volunteers who scrutinise police interaction with the public and help ensure that officers are using their powers appropriately and ethically at all times.

Constabulary celebrate the loyalty and dedication of officers at Chief Constable's Commendation awards
Officers shared stories of how they went the extra mile to arrest violent offenders and keep communities safe at the force awards ceremony this month. Hosted by Chief Constable, Nick Dean, the awards took place on Thursday 16th May at Hinchingbrooke School in Huntingdon.
