On Course South West (OCSW) Secures £190,000 in Turing Scheme Funding to Offer Life-Changing International Experiences
OCSW is thrilled to announce it has been awarded £190,000 through the prestigious Turing Scheme to provide transformative study and work placements abroad for its students.
This funding will support international opportunities between September 1, 2024, and August 31, 2025, aligning with the scheme's goals of advancing social justice and enhancing skills. The Turing Scheme, the UK government's global programme for studying and working abroad, aims to unlock once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for personal and professional development.
Enterprising idea to support Plymouth business
Got a business idea but don’t know how to get it off the ground? Or perhaps you already run a business but could do with extra support? Well, digital help is now at hand.
Plymouth City Council is working with Enterprise Nation to create a Plymouth-focused digital platform that acts as a one stop shop for small businesses or pre-start entrepreneur. It opens a digital door to support services available locally, regionally and nationally, including national campaigns delivered by Enterprise Nation.
Users who sign up to Plymouth Enterprise Hub will be guided through a journey to create their own personalised business support action plan.

After last year’s success, they are excited to once again offer up to £15,000 worth of free creative and digital consultancy to deserving organisations. Artificial Intelligence training launched in Devon and Somerset
Devon County Council are launching a new training programme exploring the benefits of adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools.
The AI awareness training for people and organisations across Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay is part of the Digital Skills Series initiative, funded by the Heart of the Southwest Growth Deal.
The course, which will be delivered by King’s Institute for AI, King’s College London, assumes no previous experience or knowledge of AI principles and concepts. Participants can opt to undertake minimum 12 hours of training, with an option to receive an additional six hours of training. All participants will receive personalised feedback with one-on-one follow-up sessions.

Government has launched Help to Grow: Management Essentials, a new online training course filled with practical advice and resources for small business leaders.
The free short course is an introductory version of the full Help to Grow: Management course to reach even more small businesses.
Essentials is the latest addition to the Help to Grow toolkit supporting UK small businesses to scale up and grow.
