We have updated copy and content to reflect the current market, added new Key Sectors and sector highlight videos to Advanced Manufacturing, Creative Industries, Marine, Medical, Health and Life Sciences and Tourism and Leisure.

Council gives massive boost to skills and training in the city
Three city organisations have been awarded funding for projects designed to help people get the right training and skills to get work.
City College Plymouth, Plymouth City Council in Partnership with the YMCA Plymouth and Real Ideas Organisation have this week learnt they have been successful in the UK Shared Prosperity Fund bids.
Between them they have been awarded almost £900,000 of funding following an open call organised by the Council looking for organisations that could deliver skills support, retraining and a focussing on increasing skills and awareness on sustainable and net zero skills/education.

Plymouth Armed Forces Day 2024 returns with a bang
Plymouth’s spectacular Armed Forces Day returns to Plymouth Hoe this summer with an epic programme of displays, interaction demonstrations and entertainment.
The exciting line-up for the Day was revealed at a launch event marking 100 days until Armed Forces Day 2024 which will be celebrated on Saturday 29 June.
The launch was hosted by the Royal Navy at HMS Drake. Captain David Preece Royal Navy, Deputy Naval Base Commander & Captain of the Base, presented the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Councillor Mark Shayer, with the Armed Forces flag. Members from Babcock, Plymouth City Council and representatives from each military service, veterans, cadets and Military Kids Club also attended.

Science Creates Accelerator
Science Creates has launched Round 2 of its flagship Engineering Biology Accelerator Programme, in partnership with UKRI and global venture capitalists. This fully-funded, equity-free program is open to individuals with engineering biology ideas or early-stage companies. Participants receive entrepreneurial training, bespoke 1:1 support, mentorship, and access to a network of investors.
The Expressions of Interest application deadline is 3 April 2024.
The Fisheries and Seafood Scheme opens for applications
The Fisheries and Seafood Scheme offers up to £6 million in match funding for projects in England. It supports various areas, including health and safety, processing, partnerships, research, and business diversification. Applicants can submit applications for smaller projects year-round, while larger projects (valued at £150,000 or more) must be submitted in spring for review by a panel.
Innovate UK innovation loans future economy
Innovate UK is providing up to £25 million in loans to UK registered SMEs for innovative late-stage research and development (R&D) projects. These projects should have a clear route to commercialization and significant economic impact. The loans aim to support new products, processes, services, or innovative business models that are ahead of existing offerings. If your business is credit-constrained and unable to fund the project from its own resources, this opportunity could be beneficial.

MUKSW Ocean Tech Expo
Ocean Tech Expo, which takes place on 26 & 27 June, will bring 70+ ocean technology speakers and 300 delegates to the city with two days of sessions running across two seminar rooms. The event is designed to showcase the best at or near market commercially viable ocean innovations.
There will also be a networking boat cruise around Plymouth Sound on the first night. All proceeds from the event will be reinvested into achieving the MUKSW 2024 workplan.

Team Challenge for Britain's Ocean City Running Festival
Are you and your company taking on the Team Challenge at this year’s Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival?
Known to promote health and wellbeing, increase motivation and team morale, as well as provide a platform for charity fundraising, make sure your company team is on the start line on Sunday 28 April 2024.
Consisting of four or more runners, you can enter a team into the Plymouth Half, Plymouth 10k and / or Plymouth 5k. The top four times are taken from each team and combined to find the fastest team in each of the three races.
The winners receive £250.00 to donate to a charity of their choice (Plymouth Half and 10k only), a trophy to display with pride and bragging rights for the next 12 months. Sign up before the registration deadline of 10pm on 1 April.
