Spearheaded by University of Exeter and Plymouth, this flagship event promises a day full of inspiration, collaboration, and the celebration of innovation across Devon, Cornwall, The Isles of Scilly, Somerset, and Dorset; bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, businesses, academics and financiers from across the region.
Centred around the theme of RESILIENCE, the one-day event will inspire attendees to use technology, creativity and insight to build business resilience.
We invite applications from organisations wishing to deliver activity as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) under the People and Skills Investment Priority. The following areas are of particular interest for this open call:

Half Marathon tender
Plymouth City Council is seeking a partner to operate the Half Marathon event in Plymouth from Spring 2025.
The contract duration will be for three years with the option to extend for a further 2 years, in yearly increments with the vision to expand and enhance the event to become one of the most successful sporting events in the South West.
This Tender is for the rights to host a Half Marathon distance event only.
Applications open on 23 January and close on 20 February 2024.

Micro-Internships are a 3 –10 day voluntary experience, enabling students to work on a defined project or work shadowing opportunity, provided by a range of campus and external partners.

Grow Your Business is a business support programme designed to help creative businesses in Devon. The programme will support you to develop the skills to secure investment so that you can achieve your ambitions for your company to grow.
If your business has creativity at its heart in any of the following sub sectors - design, fashion, architecture, film, broadcast, createch, gaming, immersive, publishing, music, theatre, art, heritage, craft, media - you could be eligible.
Support programme tailored to help businesses be more aware of the needs and requirements to be more environmentally conscious. The support should enable businesses to put their businesses on the track towards decarbonisation through the completion of decarbonisation plans and subsequent actions.
Start-up business support
Support for pre-start businesses looking to create and generate business ventures, the business support specification would ideally be tailored to specifically fund business start-ups/owners operating within minority groups i.e., BAME businesses and/or supporting women into business.
Delivery is expected to commence Monday 13 November 2023 until March 2024.
Support that could model current business support like Thrive Business Support (available until July 2023). A service that could target sole traders, Micro and SMEs. This could include a range of delivery methods including 1:1 support, advice and guidance and 1 to many workshops; all designed to support and encourage business growth within the City.

Kick Off in Business is a fully funded, one week course available to adults (19+) who are interested in exploring the option of self-employment or starting their own business. The programme is primarily designed to support those either at an early, embryonic stage in their business venture, or at the pre-start stage, however they can have already started their business or registered as self-employed. This online course is completely free and can be enjoyed from the comfort of their own home.
The University of Plymouth Research and Innovation Directorate are pleased to announce Call 7 of the R&D Solutions Fund. Grants of up to £20,000 are available to solve business problems by encouraging strong academic and industrial collaborations
R&D Solutions Fund can support:
- Joint research and development projects between the University of Plymouth and business
- Access to the University of Plymouth's specialist technical support, facilities and equipment
- Initial research activities, feasibility studies or taking research to an implementation stage
- Commercially viable or early-stage projects

In Nature Computes Better, we’re looking to fund high potential proposals with between £10k and £500k each. We initially expect to fund up to 10 opportunity seeds in this space.

£5,000 to £100,000 grants available from Smart Manufacturing Innovation Hub for rapid demonstrators and virtual testbeds
Rapid demonstrators grant - aims to support SMEs with sensor installation, data analysis or similar to enable levelling-up the opportunities for SMEs to exceed and expand. Grant funding of up to £50,000 per project.
Applicant deadline: 31 January
Virtual testbeds grant - aims to provide financial support and opportunities to bring pre-existing testbeds to the SMDH community and enable SMEs to utilise them. Grant funding of up to £100,000 per project.

Innovate UK is working with Innosuisse to invest up to £4 million and 3 million Swiss francs respectively into innovation projects, open from 5 April 2024.
The aim of this competition is to support UK-Swiss international business-led innovation collaboration. Through grant funding, Innovate UK will support UK businesses to collaborate with Swiss counterparts for their mutual global growth prospects.
UK registered micro or small businesses in the creative industries sector can apply for funding of up to £50,000 with a package of tailored support to grow their business. This fully funded grant programme is from Innovate UK.
