Plymouth’s waterfront and port look set to benefit from almost £20 million as part of the Government’s Levelling Up fund.
The Council has today learnt that its ambition to regenerate the city by accelerating the Freeport, National Marine Park and Net Zero vision have all moved a step further forward through this award of funding to the tune of £19,946, 417.

The Council was awarded funding through the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund to commission a range of support for local businesses, all designed to make new business more confident as well as encourage entrepreneurial spirit in underrepresented groups.
The government has this week announced that it is extending the tax relief window by five years to September 2031 for businesses wishing to invest in the Plymouth and South Devon (PASD) Freeport.
This extension will give businesses, investors and developers certainty and time to take full advantage of the significant tax benefits available to them, including enhanced capital allowances, relief from stamp duty and employer national insurance contributions for additional employees.
The Create Growth Programme is funded by the Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS) and aims to support creative businesses in planning for growth and exploring and securing commercial investment opportunities.
The programme will be delivered by Creative UK in partnership with West of England Combined Authority, Plymouth City Council, Torbay Council, Devon County Council, Exeter City Council, University of Plymouth, Plymouth Culture and Real Ideas Organisation.
