New hotel one step closer thanks to fundraising agreement
A new hotel for Plymouth has moved a stage closer thanks to a deal to unblock a key stalled site in the city.
The former Prince Rock playing fields on Embankment Road has been earmarked for redevelopment since 2018, but in common with other development projects, has stalled due to an increase in costs as well as changes in the proposed scheme.
Now a decision has been signed by Council Leader Tudor Evans to enter into a forward funding agreement which will enable planning permission to be sought for the commercial development of the site – with a hotel as its anchor tenant – to be built and let out.

British businesses will be able to access brand new advice and support to reduce their energy bills while cutting their carbon emissions. The UK Business Climate Hub launched 14 August 2023 includes a free carbon calculator and a suite of new tools to help businesses measure, track and report on their emissions and save money by using less energy.
It offers detailed advice on everything from sourcing products from green suppliers and reducing emissions from freight and logistics to the most cost-effective ways of installing solar panels and electric vehicle (EV) charging points.
Plymouth City Council, are inviting submissions for catering and bar concessions to sell food, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages at the above event for a one year period on November 5th 2023.
The Council is looking for a single offer to manage the entire franchise, with the rights to sublet any part(s) of the contract.
There will be provision made for up to seven fixed catering units on top of the Hoe promenade and one fixed bar.
