Plymouth City Council is looking for business support providers for a series of projects designed to offer businesses of all shapes and sizes here in Plymouth extra advice and support in particularly testing times.
The Council has been awarded funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to commission a range of support for local businesses all designed to make new business more confident as well as encourage entrepreneurial spirit in underrepresented groups.
Plymouth City Council is seeking applications from organisations wishing to deliver activity as part of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund under the Community & Place Investment Priority.
Opening in January 2024 after the refurbishment works are completed, Shekinah will move from their current location in Bath Street to the purpose designed centre to continue supporting people who are experiencing all forms of homelessness.
The ambition to raise £20,000 through Shekinah’s crowdfunding campaign will enable the charity to invest in furnishing the new centre with high quality furniture and equipment.
Research from Novuna has revealed that 71% of small businesses are working on growth initiatives, which is the highest level for three years. Businesses in the manufacturing, construction, agriculture and IT/telecoms sectors are most likely to be working on growth strategies, while those in medical services and real estate are least likely.

Through funding from SEIC (Somerset Energy Innovation Centre) you can claim 12 hours of funded support towards your Net Zero journey. (Eligibility criteria does apply)
To qualify for this you need to be:
- A SME – Small and Medium sized enterprise with under 250 employees
- With a turnover of less than £40m
- Based within the South West (including Dorset, Bristol, Bath, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Devon or Cornwall)
Digital Leadership for SMEs – Heart of the South West Skills Launchpad
Digital Leadership for SMEs is part of the £1.5 million Digital Skills Series programme which will deliver skills support across Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay. The programme is 100% funded through the Heart of the Southwest Local Enterprise Partnership Local Growth Deal.
