More than 350 businesses from across the South West have already expressed their interest in the new £200 million South West Investment Fund (SWIF) just weeks after its launch.
The government-backed fund, which was unveiled last month by the British Business Bank, aims to increase the supply and diversity of early-stage finance for new and growing smaller businesses across the region.
It operates throughout the South West, encompassing Bristol, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Somerset, and Wiltshire.
The term “Equality, Diversity and Inclusion” is used a lot, but what does it look like in everyday life and what does it mean for us, as employers, employees and people?
We have 30 diverse voices to share. 30 talented individuals with stories to tell; from skin colour to complicated caring duties, language barriers, age, health, disability, LGBTQ+ and gender... these voices are from our signatories in Plymouth.
Plymouth Charter are sharing a new voice every day through Happiness Month (August) on Plymouth Charter Linkedin and Plymouth Charter Instagram
These 30 voices – each only 2 to 3 min long – will give you something to think about, we all have bias, whether we like it or not. It’s time for reflection and some action to make us, and our world a little more inclusive.
The University of Plymouth is playing an integral role in a £1.6million project which aims to drive the decarbonisation of the fashion and textile industry.
The Future Fibres Network+ (FFN+) will draw together researchers and industry experts to embed environmental sciences at the heart of the fashion and textile sectors.
Funded by UK Research and Innovation, it will build on the University’s extensive research into the sustainability of the fashion industry. That has included the first research to highlight how microfibres are released into wastewater through the laundry process, and how mechanical devices can prevent their release.
