Dear Resident,
We are now approaching the end of the garden waste collection service for 2021.
The last fortnightly collection cycle will begin on Monday 22 November with the service finishing for the winter on Friday 3 December.
What a year!
Gardening has certainly been a popular past time this year.
Over the course of 2021, we have collected a staggering 6,788 tonnes of garden waste from across the city. That's 44 per cent more than the average tonnage from 2018 and 2019 and we've still got a few weeks to go.
Once collected from households, the waste is processed at Chelson Meadow before being used as compost on nearby farm land.
Collections in 2022
Garden waste collections will begin again in April 2022. An exact date will be communicated to you in the weeks before.
Following a change of political administration earlier this year, there will be no need for you to re-register for collections in 2022.
Over the winter
With the service taking a little break, we would politely ask you to store your bin safely within the boundary of your property, ready for next year's collections. This will also stop it from going missing.
If you still have garden waste that you want to dispose of while the service isn't running, you can still use either of our Household Waste Recycling Centres or even compost it yourself.
Remember, if you move house before collections begin again, you will need to re-register at your new address to receive collections in 2022.
Thank you!
Thank you so much for your support this year. We know that it hasn't always been plain sailing but some of the feedback we've had has been really great and helps our crews to know that they are so valued by residents.
Stay safe this winter and we'll see you next year.
Best wishes,
The Garden Waste Team
We want to hear your views on how we prioritise our spending as we work to balance the books and set a budget for next year.
Our budget helps deliver the hundreds of services we provide, which include collecting rubbish and recycling, cleaning streets, maintaining footways and roads, inspecting food premises, providing a network of libraries, supporting events and tourism, supporting children’s education, helping create new jobs and homes and providing social care.
We have a big challenge in setting a balanced budget for next year as demand for services and costs outstrip the resources we have available.
Please take part in our Prioritise Plymouth's Pounds budget engagement and tell us what services you value most and share your views and ideas about our plans to reduce costs and raise income.
You can answer as many of the questions in the questionnaire as you wish.
We provide a range of email updates, including the latest Plymouth news, updates on all bin collections, as well as information on COVID-19.
You have received this email because you have registered for garden waste collections in 2021. You can modify your email address or stop subscriptions at any time via your subscriber preferences page.
