Garden waste collections return

Garden waste

Garden waste collections will be back up and running from Monday (24 August).

We were unable to resume the service in April as planned, due to COVID-19 and the need to prioritise the city’s essential green and brown bin collections with fewer drivers and loaders.

Most of these staff are now back but to help ensure we can keep all three kerbside collections running while the pandemic continues, collections will be four-weekly instead of fortnightly.

The season is being extended to November this year, though, which means we expect each household to have three or four collections. If you’ve not yet registered please do, as it helps us gauge demand and plan our routes as efficiently as possible. Click the 'register now' button in this page.

Your collection day may be different this year so be sure to check online before putting your bag(s) out – you just need to pop in your postcode.

The usual guidelines (including the limit of four bags) still apply. All the details, including what can and cannot go in your bags can be found on our garden waste page.

Don’t forget you can also dispose of garden waste at Chelson Meadow recycling centre.

Thank you for bearing with us while we have been working to resume our services.

Weston Mill to reopen in September

Weston Mill recycling centre will reopen for certain types of waste next month.

It will initially only be open at the weekend and restrictions will apply to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

Further details and a confirmed opening date will be announced very shortly.
