Plymouth City Council has submitted an expression of interest for funding to improve the city centre.
The £675 million Future High Street Fund aims to renew and reshape high streets by improving infrastructure, accessibility and experience. The fund will contribute up to a maximum of £25 million for a successful bid. To find out more click here

More Council-owned buildings look set to have solar panels installed as the city continues its drive to cut carbon and create clean renewable energy.
The Box, Ballard House, Prince Rock Depot and Chelson Meadow are the latest buildings to be earmarked for installations that could help the Council cut its carbon emissions by up to 200 tonnes a year. To find out more click here

The University are organising the first ever Techstars Startup Weekend Plymouth (April 26th-28th), with the support of EPIC, RIO and PSP! Themed on Health and Wellbeing this will see participants take part in a three day long business challenge that will result in groups pitching businesses to a panel of judges. The event is a pilot for the series of Startup Weekends which will be delivered through the iMayflower programme. There is a real opportunity here to build on the entrepreneurial talents of the area and develop a sustainable model for a really exciting and hopefully rich event. Improved ultrafast ‘Fibre to the Premises’ (FTTP) broadband will be rolled out to over 220 public buildings across Plymouth, South Hams and West Devon over the next two years, thanks to a successful bid to a UK Government fund.
The buildings include council offices, GP surgeries, hospitals, schools, colleges and many others. This investment will significantly extend access to full fibre networks making it easier and cheaper for businesses and homes to connect. To find out more click here

The Plymouth Employment and Skills Board represents the City of Plymouth at a local, regional and national level regarding skills and employability including supply and demand of skills and how a healthy workforce contributes to productivity.

Sutton Harbour Marina has created a new customer service position to help the marina team provide an even better service for berth holders and visiting guests.
Marlene Ransley has taken on the role of Marina Customer Service Assistant at the 5 Gold Anchor marina based in the heart of Plymouth.

The British Firework Championships held in Plymouth each year is the UK’s most spectacular fireworks display. Over two summer evenings, six professional pyrotechnic companies compete against one another with their dazzling displays to the delight of excited crowds on Plymouth Hoe.
