As you are aware, DVSA publishes information to help guide HGV drivers in performing their daily vehicle walkaround checks.
To support drivers and their employers, DVSA has added 22 translations to GOV.UK including adding additional language subtitles to an educational video. This is designed to help with routine checks at the roadside where the drivers’ first language is not English.
The information also explains problems with tyres such as condition and tread depth - issues we commonly see.
The guidance is designed to be bite-sized, so is quick to read for drivers carrying out daily walkaround checks – and easy to share for those managing drivers.
QR codes will be added to DVSA check sites and DVSA examiners will be able use the QR code to share this guidance with drivers if vehicle defects are identified. When accessing the GOV.UK page, the driver will have the option to select their preferred language.
The guidance can be found on GOV.UK using the following link: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/carry-out-daily-heavy-goods-vehicle-hgv-walkaround-checks
